Valerian seeds cultivars were acquired from Germany (Anton and Mehrfahrig). It has been determined that Valeriana officinalis L. could be grown easily in Cukurova region. The essential oil of subterranean parts of valerian was obtained by hydrodistillation (0,95-1,03%) and analyzed by GC-MS. The main characteristic of V. officinalis essential oil was isopren (1.8%), monoterpenoids (19.9%), sesquiterpenoid (10.1%), light oxygenated compounds (30.7%) and heavy oxygenated compounds (37.5%). The major compounds in the essential oil of both cultivars were bornyl acetate, valerenal, camphene, spathulenol and fenchene.eninfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessValerianValeriana officinalis L.Essential Oil CompositionESSENTIAL OIL COMPOSITION OF CULTIVATED VALERIAN (VALERIANA OFFICINALIS L.)
