Tarım ve kırsal alan ülkenin sosyo demografik yapısını belirlemede önemli olduğu gibi, sürdürülebilir bir çözüm sunulmadığında ülkeyi olumsuzluklara sürükleyebilmektedir. Bu çalışmada da Türkiye ve AB'nin kırsal kalkınmaya yaklaşım biçimleri ele alınmıştır. Türkiye'nin kendi hazırladığı kalkınma planlarında kırsal kalkınma için sürdürülebilir bir başarı sağlayamadığı çalışmanın sonuçlarındandır. AB'nin ise ortak tarım politikası ile başladığı kırsal kalkınma yolculuğu LEADER ile devam etmiştir. Zamanla hem üye ülkeleri hem de aday ülkeleri içerisine alan bu entegre yaklaşım biçimi, Türkiye'nin de adaylığı süresince birtakım etkileri olmuştur.The concept of rural development, which has many definitions and perspectives on it, is also a determinant of many factors in the current situation and future of countries. As agriculture and rural areas are important in determining the socio-demographic structure of the country, it can drag the country into negativity when a sustainable solution is not provided. In this study, the approaches of Turkey and the EU to rural development are discussed. It is one of the results of the study that Turkey could not achieve a sustainable success for rural development in its own development plans. The rural development journey that the EU started with the common agricultural policy continued with LEADER.
