Decontamination of gastrointestinal system (gastric lavage/whole bowel irrigation), infusion of desferrioxamine (15 mg/kg/h) and aggressive management of shock and multiorgan failure are effective. Shock, coagulopathy, severe metabolic acidosis and acute liver failure are signs of poor prognosis. We wanted to discuss clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment of iron intoxication which is frequent in childhood and sometimes a cause for mortality.trinfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessdeferoxamineironblood clotting disorderchelationhumanhyperglycemiairon overloadleukocytosisliver failuremetabolic acidosismortalityprognosisreviewshockstomach lavageIron intoxication at childrenÇocuklarda demir zehirlenmesiReview Article17782852-s2.0-23644433662N/A
