Diyarbakır kültür turizmine ilişkin coğrafya öğretmen adaylarının bakış açılarının belirlenmesi

Abstract

Küresel ölçekte en hızlı büyüyen dinamik sektörlerden birisi olan turizm, köklü bir tarihe sahip olan ve kültürel açıdan zenginlik taşıyan birçok yerleşim alanı için gelir ve istihdam üreten önemli bir ekonomik gelişme aracı olarak kabul edilmektedir. Hızla küresel bir köy haline gelen günümüz dünyasında artık turist talepleri de zaman içerisinde değişmektedir. Önceleri dinlenmek amacıyla değerlendiren boş zamanların sanayi devriminden sonraki süreçten günümüze doğru yaklaştıkça artması insanları iş yaşamı dışında farklı aktivitelere yönelmelerine neden olmuştur. Önceleri lüks mekânlarda kalma, gece hayatı, pahalı yiyecekler yeme, bol ve özgürce para harcama üzerine bina edilen tatil anlayışı yerine farklı kültürleri tanıma, kültürel, tarihi ve arkeolojik mekânları gezme, yeni ve farklı kültürleri tanıma ve bunlardan yararlanarak yeni bir yaşam perspektifi kazanmak anlayışı oluşmuştur. Bu bağlamda tarih boyunca birçok medeniyete ev sahipliği yapmış, surları, tarihi camileri, kiliseleri, köprüleri, köşkleri, örf-adet ve yöresel el sanatlarıyla kültürel açıdan çok zengin bir dokuya sahip olan Diyarbakır ilinin "Kültürel Turizm Kenti" olma potansiyeli oldukça yüksektir. Ancak, yerel halkın ve yerel yönetimlerin kültürel turizme yönelik ulusal ve uluslararası bir farkındalık oluşturamamış olmasından dolayı bu potansiyel yeterli düzeyde değerlendirilememiştir. Bu çalışmada coğrafya öğretmen adaylarının Diyarbakır ilinin kültürel turizm potansiyeline ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma evrenini Dicle Üniversitesi, coğrafya eğitimi ana bilim dalında okuyan 190 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Çalışma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeline göre desenlenmiştir. Katılımcılar yörede kültürel turizmin gelişmesi için kenti tanıtım faaliyetlerinin artırılması ve medyada olumlu imaj oluşturulması gerektiğini düşünmektedir. Araştırma sonuçlarından hareketle kültürel turizm faaliyetlerinin yörenin kalkınmasına ve bölgenin imajına pozitif katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir

As one of the dynamic sectors with its most rapid growth at global scale, tourism is accepted as an important economic development tool that creates income and employment for many settlements which has a well-established history and wealth in terms of culture. In today’s world which quickly turns into global village, the demands of tourists changes over time from now on. From the next period of industrial revolution to present day, the increase of spare times which were utilized to have a rest before led the people to head for engaging in different activities except business life. A new idea to gain new perspective on life developed by both recognizing different cultures, visiting cultural, historical and archeological places and enjoying these activities instead of the previously created public idea on holiday based on staying on luxurious places, night life, eating expensive foods and spending much money freely. In this regard, the province of Diyarbakir, home of many civilizations throughout history, has a good potential to be called as “A City of Cultural Tourism" with its very rich texture embodying city walls, historical mosques, churches, bridges, pavilions, customs and local handicrafts. However, due to the fact that local people and local authorities could not establish awareness on cultural tourism at both national and international level, this potential has not been utilized enough. This study aims to investigate the perspectives of preservice teachers of geography on cultural tourism potential in the province of Diyarbakir. The population of the study is 190 students studying in the department of Geography teaching, Dicle University. The research was designed in survey model, one of the quantitative methods of research. The participants think that it is needed to increase the promotional activities and to create a more positive image in the media for the development of cultural tourism in the region. With reference to the results of the study, it is considered that cultural tourism activities will positively contribute to the creation of a positive image and the development of the region
