Silifke müzesi'nden mitolojik figürlü Kameolar ve Gemmeler

Abstract

Gemme ve kameo örnekleri döneminin heykeltıraşlık stilini ve ikonografisini yansıtması açısından antikçağküçük el sanatlarının önemli bir buluntu grubudur. Avrupa'daki eserlere kıyasla Anadolu müzeleri ve özel koleksiyonlarında yer alan çok sayıdaki örneğin henüz bilim dünyasına tanıtılmamış olması Anadolu gemmeleriiçin eksikliktir. Bu nedenle Silifke Müzesi arkeolojik eserdepolarında korunmakta olan gemme ve kameoların mitolojik konulu olanlarının makale kapsamında çalışılması kararlaştırılmıştır. 9 gemme ve 2 kameodan oluşantoplam 11 eser ikonografi ve stil özelliklerine göre değerlendirilmiş, buluntu yerleri bilinmediği için tarihlemedeanaloji yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Katalogda verilen eserlerstil özellikleri doğrultusunda MÖ I. yüzyıl ile MS III. yüzyıl arasındaki 400 yıllık zaman dilimi içerisine yerleştirilmiştir. İkonografik değerlendirmenin neticesinde tanrı, tanrıçave diğer mitolojik figürler olarak belirlenen konu başlıkları içerisinde Hermes/Mercur, Eros/Cupido, Pan/Silvenus, Harpokrates/Horus, Athena/Minerva, Aphrodite/Venus, Tykhe/Fortuna, Nemesis ile Medusa tespitedilmiştir. Bu çalışmada incelenen ve olasılıkla menşeiKilikya Bölgesi antik kentleri olan eserler sayesinde Anadolu'daki Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi gemmeleri hemsayısal hem de ikonografik açıdan çeşitlilik kazanmıştır.

Gems and cameos form an important group of artifacts of the ancient fine arts because they reflect the style and iconography of their period. Compared to examples of these in Europe, the fact that many examples in Turkish museums and private collections have not been introduced to the scientific world through publication is the most important missing element in the study of Anatolian gems and cameos. Due to this absence the decision was taken to study those gems and cameos carrying mythological subjects preserved in the Silifke Museum in this article. Eleven works of art consisting of 9 gems and 2 cameos were evaluated according to the iconography and style employed and, with their find-spots unknown, analogous dated examples were employed to suggest their dates of carving. The works of art in the catalogue from the stylistic evidence extend over a period of 400 years from the Ist. century B.C. to the IIIrd century A.D. The iconographic study of these examples showed representation of: Hermes/Mercury, Eros/Cupid, Pan/Silvenus, Harpocrates /Horus, Athena/Minerva, Aphrodite/Venus, Tyche/Fortuna, Nemesis and Medusa. Through the works of art examined in this study, gems and cameos which were probably found in the ancient cities of the Cilicia region, the number of published Roman Imperial Era gems and cameos from Anatolia has increased in both number and iconographic variety.
