Moralı korsanların Kıbrıs çevresindeki faaliyetleri (1821-1828)

Abstract

1821 Mora İsyanı, Osmanlı Devleti ile Akdeniz adaları arasındaki bağlantıyı sona erdiren önemli hadiselerden biridir. İsyan sırasında Rum korsanların ortaya koydukları vahşet karşısında uzun süre direnemeyen Osmanlılar, Mora ve Akdeniz adalarından çekilmek zorunda kaldılar. Osmanlıların çekilmesi üzerine Rum korsanlar, Mora İsyanı’nı bütün Akdeniz coğrafyasına yaymak istediler. Bu sebeple gemilerini Ege adaları, Anadolu ve Kıbrıs sahillerine gönderdiler ve Hıristiyan topluluklarını Osmanlı egemenliğine karşı kışkırttılar. Rum korsanların çabaları beklenen etkiyi Kıbrıs’ta göstermemiştir. Bunda Kıbrıs muhassıllarının olduğu kadar Mısır Valisi Mehmed Ali Paşa’nın Akdeniz donanmasıyla kazandığı zaferlerin payı büyüktür. Ada yine de uzun bir süre Rum korsanların saldırılarından kurtulamamıştır. Yunan Devleti’nin kurulması için savaşan korsanlar silahlarını devletlerinin kurulmasına ilgisiz kalan Avrupalı devletlere çevirdiler. Buna karşılık Rum korsanlar üzerine geniş çaplı bir mücadele başlatıldı. Avrupalılar Rum korsanların Akdeniz’den temizlenmesi görevini Yunanistan’a verdiler. Çalışma, Rum korsanların 1821 Mora İsyanı sırasında uyguladıkları Akdeniz ablukasının Kıbrıs ve çevresine etkileri üzerine odaklanmıştır.

1821 Mora Rebellion which ended the connection between the Ottoman Empire and the Mediterranean Islands is one of the important events. Introduced by Greek pirates during the rebellion unable to withstand long periods in the face of brutality, the Ottomans were forced to retreat from the Mora and the Aegean islands. On the withdrawal of the Ottomans, Greek pirates, they wanted to spread to the 1821 Mora Rebellion, on the whole Mediterranean region. For this reason, they sent the ships of the Aegean islands, shores of Anatolia and Cyprus. They provoked against the Ottoman domination of Christian communities. The efforts of the Greek pirates have not shown the expected effect in Cyprus. The victory of Egyptian Governor Mehmed Ali Pasha with the Mediterranean navy is as great as that of the Cyprus Muhassıls. The island has not survived the attacks of the Greek pirates for a long time anyway. The pirates who fought for the foundation of the Greek state turned their weapons into European states that were not interested in the establishment of their state. On the other hand, a widespread struggle against the Greek pirates was launched. The Europeans gave Greece the task of clearing the Greek pirates from the Mediterranean. The study focused on the impacts of the Mediterranean blockade on Cyprus and its environs, which the Greek pirates imposed during the 1821 Mora Rebellion.
