The species is now established in at least 46 freshwater systems (lake, river, reservoir, lagoon and pond) of Turkey and the species' spread has been especially rapid between 1998 and 2006. Especially, this species show the rapid invasion of Carassius gibelio in Turkish freshwater systems from Thrace to Anatolia. © 2007 Asian Network for Scientific Information.Öğe Distribution of the non-native fish species, pumpkinseed Lepomis gibbosus (Linnaeus, 1758), in Turkey(Regional Euro-Asian Biological Invasions Centre, 2007) Özcan, GülnazThe North American centrarchid species, Lepomis gibbosus (Linnaeus, 1758), is a freshwater fish native to eastern and central North America. The species is now established in at least 28 countries of Europe and in Turkey the species' spread has been especially rapid between 2001 and 2006, with its distribution including the following areas: Kemer Reservoir, Akçay river catchment and inland waters of the Aegean and Anatolian regions. This is the first report in a new locality of the species in Asia Minor. © 2007 The Author(s).Öğe Ichthyofauna and its conservation status of büyük karaçay stream, Hatay, Turkey(University of Zagreb - Faculty of Agriculture, 2015) Özcan, Gülnaz; Altun, AyhanThis study was conducted to determine ichthyofauna of the Büyük Karaçay stream of the River Orontes drainage in Turkey (eastern Mediterranaen basin). As the result of examination of the 911 individuals collected between June 2012 and May 2013, eight fish species belonging to five families have been recorded. Of these, African catfish Clarias gariepinus (Burchell, 1822), yellow barbel Carasobarbus luteus (Heckel, 1843) and two spot loach Oxynoemacheilus argyrogramma (Heckel, 1847) are new species reported for the ichthyofauna of the Büyük Karaçay stream. Red garra Garra rufa is found to be the predominant species of the stream. Endemic fish species of the stream are Tigris barb Capoeta barroisi, yellow barbel C. luteus, red garra G. rufa and two spot loach O. argyrogramma. Three fish species, i.e. European eel Anguilla anguilla, Mesopotamian barb Capoeta damascina, African catfish C. gariepinus are native. Besides native and endemic species, there is an alien fish species, namely eastern mosquitofish Gambusia affinis, occupying the habitat. Main threats for the fishes of the stream are mostly habitat loss, pollution, water abstraction and alien species. © The Author(s) 2015. Published by University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agriculture. All rights reserved.Öğe İkizce çayı'ndaki (Şırnak) Siraz balığının [Capoeta umbla (Heckel, 1843)] otolit biyometrisi - balık boyu arasındaki ilişki(2015) Dörtbudak, Muhammed Yaşar; Özcan, GülnazBu çalışmada, İkizce Çayı'ndaki siraz balığının [Capoeta umbla (Heckel, 1843)] otolit boyu (OL) -toplam boy (TL), otolit genişliği (OW)- toplam boy (TL) ve otolit boyu (OL) - otolit genişliği (OW) arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Balık örnekleri Şubat ve Mart 2014 tarihleri arasında balık ağları ile İkizce Çayı'ndan (Şırnak) yakalanmıştır. Toplam 76 adet bireyin (15 dişi ve 61 erkek) otoliti analizi edilmiştir. Total boy ile otolit boyu arasındaki ilişki y=0,0565x +1,1008 (r=0,6602), total boy ile otolit genişliği arasındaki ilişki y=0,0651x + 0,4226 (r=0,6504) ve otolit boyu ile otolit genişliği arasındaki ilişki y=0,7614x + 0,0602 (r=0,8268) olarak tespit edilmiştir. Sağ ve sol otolitlerin boyutları arasındaki farkın önemsiz olduğu (ANOVA p>0,05) bulunmuştur.Öğe Length–weight relationships of five freshwater Fish Species from the Hatay Province, Turkey(2008) Özcan, GülnazLength–weight relationships of freshwater fish species which are Carasobarbus luteus, Chondrostoma regium, Clarias gariepinus, Anguilla anguilla and Cyprinus carpio from the Hatay province, Turkey were investigated. Values of the parameter “b” of length-weigth reltionships (W=aLb ) ranged from 2.767 to 3.282.Öğe A study on freshwater ichthyofauna of Kemer reservoir and Akçay stream of the aegean region, Turkey(2008) Özcan, Gülnaz; Balık, SüleymanBu çalışma, Akçay ve Kemer Baraj Gölü'nün ihtiyofaunasını belirlemek için yapıldı. Aralık 2004 ile Haziran 2006 arasında toplanılan örneklerin incelenmesi sonucunda, Akçay ve Kemer Baraj Gölü havzasında 6 familyaya ait 15 balık türü bulundu. Bunlardan, Lepomis gibbosus, Silurus glanis, Oncorhynchus mykiss, Carassius gibelio ve hibrit çizgili levrek {Morone chrysops & Morone saxatilis) yabancı türlerdir. Üç tür, Petroleuciscus smyrnaeus, Alburnoides bipunctatus,ve Oncorhynchus mykiss Akçay ve Kemer Baraj Gölü'nden ilk kez kaydedildi.
