Öğe Doctors’ Attitudes and Practises Regarding Human Papillomavirus Vaccination: A Qualitative Study(2023) Aksoy, Hilal; Güner, PınarINTRODUCTION: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common sexually transmitted viruses in the world that causes diseases of the genitourinary system. But it is still not included in the national immunization schedule. Our aim is to find out the attitudes and practices of physicians in Turkey regarding HPV vaccination. METHODS: The study was qualitative in nature. It was conducted with 14 subjects consisting of specialists in general medicine, family medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, urology, pediatrics and diseases working in Turkey. A thematic framework analysis was used for the analysis. RESULTS: No notable difference was found in the opinions of the doctors in relation to their age or gender. The analysis revealed three main themes: Prejudice and ignorance about the HPV vaccine, insufficient information to patients about the HPV vaccine, and the need to include the HPV vaccine in the national immunization schedule. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The HPV vaccine is currently a paid vaccine, administered only on demand. Participants cited a lack of knowledge about the vaccine and the cost of the vaccine as the biggest barriers to vaccination. All rights reserved.Öğe Evaluation of Attitudes and Behavioral Changes in Relatives of Patients with Breast Cancer(2021) Güner, Pınar; Aksoy, Hilal; Bölükbaşı, Hande; Dede, İsaObjective: The aim of this study was to determine the information and support needs of breast cancer patients’ relatives and to what extent they were met.Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 177 participants whose relatives were followed up with breast-cancer diagnosis in the Oncology Department between May and September 2019. The questionnaire and sociodemographic characteristics and “Information and Support Needs Scale” were applied to the participants.Results: The mean age of the participants was 39.70±14.10. 66 (37.30%) were primary school graduates, 106 (59.90%) were housewives and 124 (70.10%) were married. The most common breast cancer screening methods for women were 68.40% (121) self-examination and 54.20% (96) mammography. The number of participants who had breast cancer screening was 78 (44.30%). The mean score of information requirements was 3.50±0.09 and the mean score of support requirements was 3.30±0.18. with Statistical analysis were performed with SPSS 21.0 program.Conclusion: It is necessary to determine the knowledge status, attitudes and needs of women who have breast cancer in their neighborhood by the health professionals about the causes, screening methods, treatment methods and prevention of breast cancer. In this way, it will increase the spread of breast cancer screening, the number of patients diagnosed early and the success of treatment.Öğe The experiences and thoughts of Turkish family physicians about COVID-19 pandemic: A qualitative study(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2023) Baser, Duygu Ayhan; Guner, Pinar Doner; Gumustakim, Raziye Sule; Agadayi, Ezgi; Aksoy, Hilal; Fidanci, IzzetBackgroundEfforts to contain the SARS-CoV-2 virus would fall short without strong primary health care.ObjectivesIn this study, we aimed to determine the experiences, views and suggestions of family physicians regarding their roles, primary care health systems' preparedness and the challenges/needs for a better organisation during the pandemic via in-depth exploration.MethodsTwenty-one family physicians working in different cities of Turkey participated in semi-structured interviews between 15/08/2020-21/01/2021. Convenience sampling was used. We did this qualitative study through interviews by telephone. Participants were asked seven open-ended questions. Thematic analysis was used, which included reading the transcript, identifying significant phrases and formulating meanings and validating meanings through research team discussions to reach consensus, identifying themes.ResultsTen of the participants were female and the average age of the participants was 39.5 (SD = 10.5) years. Twelve of the family physicians are specialists in family medicine. Four themes were identified: role of primary care in the pandemic, pandemic preparedness of primary care, challenges of working in primary care centres during the COVID-19 pandemics, and approaches to future pandemics.ConclusionOur study showed that, despite unprepared primary care and undefined roles of family physicians in pandemic planning, family physicians played a significant role in pandemic management.Öğe How Covid 19 Fear Affected Nutritional Support in Healthcare Professionals(2023) Güner, Pınar; Aksoy, Hilal; Dırıcan, EmreObjectives: Healthcare professionals are the most affected individuals by the Covid-19 pandemic. Spending this period with a healthy and balanced diet will help them have a strong immune system. The objective of the study is to determine the relationship between Covid-19 fear and using vitamin supplements by healthcare professionals. Methods: This observational study was conducted through the online Google survey application. Questions including demographic details and vitamin use and the fear of Covid-19 scale (FCV-19s) including seven questions were asked. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 21 package program. Results: 874 healthcare professionals were included in the study. Vitamin / mineral usage frequency increases with decreasing BMI and increasing age and is higher in women, those with chronic illnesses, married people, those living at home with children or elderly. The most preferred vitamins / minerals of the participants during the pandemic were vitamin D, vitamin C, multivitamin, zinc, magnesium, vitamin B12 and iron, respectively. It was observed that as the number of used vitamins / minerals increased, the average score of the Covid-19 fear scale increased. Conclusion: COVID-19 fear caused increase in vitamin and mineral usage. Bu niteliksel çalışmada, Tip 2 diyabetli hastaların takiplerinde birinci basamağı tercih etme durumlarının, birinci basamaktaki DM yönetimine dair görüşlerinin, aile hekimleri ile aralarındaki iletişiminin ve aile hekimleri ile iletişimlerinde etkili olan faktörlerin ve nedenlerinin saptanması amaçlandı. Yöntem. Çalışmamıza araştırmaya katılmaya gönüllü olanlardan, maksimum çeşitlilik örneklemesi ile seçilmiş 20 Tip 2 diyabetli hasta katıldı. Hastalar ile derinlemesine, yarı yapılandırılmış, yüz yüze görüşmeler yapıldı. Görüşmelerin tümü dijital olarak kaydedildi ve yazıya aktarıldıktan sonra kalitatif olarak analiz edildi. Bulgular. DM hastaları, kapsamlı, bütüncül yaklaşımı ve aile sağlığı merkezine kolay ulaşımından dolayı takiplerinde aile hekimini seçebilmektedirler. Aile hekiminde aradıkları özellikler ise samimiyet, ulaşım kolaylığı, empati ve yüksek bilgi düzeyidir. Sonuç. Çalışmamızda, sağlık hizmetleri içinde çok önemli bir yere sahip olan birinci basamak sağlık sistemlerinde çekirdek yeterliliklerinin, DM gibi kronik hastalıkların yönetiminde hastaların aile hekimlerinden beklentileri doğrultusundaki gereken özellikleri karşıladığı saptandı.Öğe Weight loss experiences of obese individuals; Qualitative study(Düzce Üniversitesi, 2019) Döner Güler, Pınar; Kahveci, Rabia; Aksoy, Hilal; Özkara, AdemObjective: Obesity is a leading preventable cause of death worldwide. Being overweight or obese has a serious impact on health. Treatment of obesity needs a comprehensive approach. Biopsychosocial approach of family physicians is invaluable in obesity management. In this study, we aimed to evaluate experiences of obese individuals during their weight-losing attempts and to explore the factors affecting success and failure of different approaches. Methods: We conducted indepth, semi-structured, face to face interviews with 30 participants whose Body Mass Index was higher than 30). Interviews were audiorecorded and transcribed, and qualitatively analysed using a thematic framework method. Results: 26 women and 4 men have accepted to join our study. Analysis of in depth interviews emerged 5 major themes which were: the different perception of obesity among individuals; awareness of obesity; loss of self-confidence; belief in treatment and effects on quality of life. Conclusions: Each patient has a different need and different expectation while controlling weight. As a part of biopsychosocial approach the family physician needs to understand the factors that bring the patient to current condition and see which approach would be the best for individual patient for weight management.
