Ayrıca baraj gölündeki bazı su kalite parametreleri de (pH, EC, nitrat, potasyum, kalsiyum, mağnezyum, karbonat, bikarbonat, sülfat, organik madde, amonyak, nitrit, O - fosfat, çözünmüş oksijen, sertlik, sıcaklık) belirlenmiş olup bunların normal su kriterleri değerleri içerisinde oldukları tespit edilmiştirÖğe A checklist of Turkish rotifers(2012) Ustaoğlu, Mustafa Ruşen; Altındağ, Ahmet; Kaya, Murat; Akbulut, Nuray; Bozkurt, Ahmet; Özdemir Mis, Didem; Atasagun, Sibel; Erdoğan, Sevil; Bekleyen, Aysel; Saler, Serap; Okgerman, Hacer CananIn a book chapter containing the first checklist and distribution of Turkish rotifers, published in 1999, were listed 167 taxa. The second checklist, published in 2004, reported 229 rotifer taxa in Turkey. During the 7 years since this checklist process, many studies have been carried out and we have prepared a new checklist of Turkish rotifers in the present study. In all, 341 rotifer taxa have been recorded to date.Öğe Cladocera and copepoda fauna of Aslantaş Dam Lake (Osmaniye-Turkey)(2009) Bozkurt, Ahmet; Göksu, Münir Ziya Lugal; Altun, AyhanQuantitative and qualitative examinations of zooplankton in Aslantaş Dam Lake were studied between April 2001 and March 2002. It was established that total zooplankton in the reservoir is being represented with 18 species belonging to Cladocera and Copepoda. Number of the species belonging to cladocer and copepod are 14 and 4, respectively. Contrary to the number of species, abundance was found to be in favor of copepods (65.99% of total zooplankton). Remaining one third of total zooplankton (34.01%) was cladocerans. The most abundant species were determined as Bosmina longirostris among cladocerans and Thermocyclops vermifer persicus (Lindberg, 1936) among copepods. Monthly depth of light penetration zone (photic zone) was calculated using Secchi disk readings. It was observed that the copepods were more abundant than the cladocerans in the light penetration zone (photic zone). Beyond the light penetration zone the situation was reversed and the cladocerans were found to be more abundant than the copepods. Chlorophyll-a level was also examined in the lake. Since this study is the very first study carried out on the zooplankton of Aslantaş Dam Lake, all of the species observed are the first reports for Aslantaş Dam Lake.Öğe Composition and vertical distribution of rotifera in Aslantas dam lake (Osmaniye-Turkey)(2010) Bozkurt, Ahmet; Göksu, Münir Ziya LugalRotifera composition and vertical distribution in Aslantas Dam Lake was studied from April 2001 to March 2002. It was established that the rotifera were represented by 33 species and 2 subspecies in the lake. Total average density of the rotifera was found to be 255883 Rotifer/m3. Species such as Keratella cochlearis cochlearis, K. cochlearis tecta, Polyarthra dolichoptera, Trichocerca capucina and Asplanchna priodonta were present througout the year. The analysis for the determination of vertical distribution of Rotifera showed that the most abundant species at surface and below surface was P. dolichoptera with 34.59%, and K. cochlearis cochlearis with 29.29%, respectively. Rotifera had the highest density at 5 m in the lake. In addition, 63.58% of total Rotifera was observed in photic zone while the rest (36.42%) was collected from aphotic zone. Chlorophyll a measurement of the dam lake showed that the average montly values were 31.44 mg/m3 at the surface and 20.13 mg/m3 below the surface. A vertical increase at the value of chlorophyll a was observed from the surface to 7.5 m. Gradual decrease at the value was recorded exceeding the depth of 7.5 m.Öğe The determination of body size and eggs number of Zooplankton (Rotifera, Cladocera and Copepoda) in Tahtaköprü dam lake (Gaziantep, Turkey)(2016) Bozkurt, Ahmet; Ülgü, Mitat; Duysak, ÖnderÇalışma, Tahtaköprü Baraj Gölü'nde Mart 2007-Şubat 2008 tarihleri arasında yürütülmüştür. Kopepod yumurta miktarı aralık ayında en çok (80,67±1,154 adet), ekim ayında ise en az (14,75±3,594 adet) olduğu tespit edilmiştirÖğe Effects of preservation methods on the ? 13c and ? 15n signatures in muscle tissues of two freshwater fish species(2011) Akin, Şenol; Şahin, Cemalettin; Turan, Davut; Gözler, Ahmet Mutlu; Verep, Bülent; Bozkurt, Ahmet; Çelik, KemalStable isotope is a powerful method for characterizing flows of energy through ecosystems. Perch largely preferred fish (36%), insects (54%), other crustaceans (16%) and daphnia (13%). Spatial analysis showed that perch substantially preferred fish in the river section above the dam lakes and insects, crustacean and fish in the river section below the dam lake and in dam lakes. The perch at every size seemed to prefer fish with the highest and lowest percentage obtained for 0 to 80 and 141 to 200 mm. Insects and crustaceans were important for 81 to 140 mm and 0 to 120 mm length, respectively. Crustaceans were important in June, November and July. Insects and fish except for June 2009 constituted an important portion of the diets during every sampling month. The perch showed a piscivory feeding habit, a result obtained by trophic level calculated by stomach contents (3.87) and stable isotope (3.91) methods. Trophic level change little during the ontogeny with relatively higher value obtained for the larger length. The perch inhabiting in the river section above the dam lakes had the highest trophic level compared to the other sites. Diet breadth of perch was lower and higher for larger and middle length (101 to 140 mm), respectively. The diet breadth was higher in dam lakes, indicating opportunistic feeding habits in lakes. Being the most abundant fish species in the study system and showing predatory feeding habits suggested that perch may have an effect on local fish assemblage and itself through predation.Öğe First record of Eudiaptomus gracilis (G.O. Sars, 1863) is recorded from Turkish inland waters for the first time. Males and females of Eudiaptomus gracilis were consistently found during 6 sampling periods in the Yesilirmak River. The species was collected from the Yesilirmak River and Suat Ugurlu and Hasan Ugurlu dam lakes in the Black Sea region and detailed descriptions of both sexes are given.Öğe FIRST RECORD OF THE EPIBIONT PROTOZOAN EPISTYLIS SP ON ZOOPLANKTON (COPEPODA, CLADOCERA, AND ROTIFERA) FROM THE ASI RIVER, TURKEY(Brill Academic Publishers, 2009) Bozkurt, Ahmet; Genc, ErcumentBased on preliminary evidence (collected by us early 2005) of Epistylis infection of zooplankton, we investigated the prevalence of epibionts on various groups of metazooplankton with regard to Epistylis in the Asi River, north-eastern Mediterranean, Turkey. This study presents a detailed record of that ciliate protozoan on zooplankton from the Asi River in 2005-2006. Copepods, cladocerans, and rotifers were monthly sampled in the study period. The colonial Epistylis sp. was found on various groups: rotifers were the most abundant metazooplankton group (58 species out of a total of 89 zooplankton species) but the results show that copepods are the preferred substratrum for Epistylis sp., followed by cladocerans and rotifers. The highest densities of infected zooplankton were observed in December (116 ind. 20 L(-1)), then in May (92 ind. 20 L(-1)). Also October (91 ind. 20 L(-1)), and November (83 ind. 20 L(-1)) were associated with high zooplankton densities, possibly due to the increase in adhesion surface. The density of infected zooplankton was found to be positively correlated with zooplankton richness. The zooplankton infection in the Asi River constitutes the first record for Turkish inland waters of Epistylis sp., with the exception of a previous record for Cyclops vicinus Uljanin, 1875.Öğe Morphologic divergence and systematic relationship of copepod in Turkish freshwater(Universitatea din Oradea, 2015) Bozkurt, Ahmet; Turan, Cemal; Erguden, DenizThe pattern of taxonomic relationship and morphological divergence of three copepod species Thermocyclops crassus, T. dybowskii and T. vermifer collected from three different localities in Mediterranean region of Turkey were investigated. A multivariate ANOVA using morphometric characters revealed highly significant intersample variation for most of the characters between species. In discriminant function analyses, the first discriminant function accounted for 65% and the second accounted for 35% of the between-group variability, showing clear between-species differentiation. Component loadings of discriminating variables showed that thorax segments of cephalothorax played an important role to discriminate Thermocyclops species. The Neighbour-joining analysis produced two main clustering, T. vermifer was closest taxa to T. dybowskii being the sister group to the T. crassus which was the most divergent in this group. In the correct assignment of individuals into their original sample, the proportion of correctly classified T. crassus to their original group was highest (100%), showing a clear separation from the other species. © Biharean Biologist, Oradea, Romania, 2015.Öğe Prey selection and diet composition of larval pike, esox lucius l., 1758, in lake isaszeg, Hungary(Parlar Scientific Publications, 2017) Demirci, Sevil; Gokcek, Kaya; Bozkurt, Ahmet; Szabo, Tamas; Urbanyi, BelaIii this study. Tüm yemleme rejimlerinde de karabalık larvalarının diğer zooplankton türlerinden çok Kopepod ve Rotaria türlerini tercih ettiği belirlenmiştir.Öğe Prey selection by African catfish Clarias gariepinus(Burchell, 1822) larvae fed different feeding regimes(2006) Yilmaz, Erdal; Bozkurt, Ahmet; Gökçek, KayaLive prey selection by African catfish, Clarias gariepinus, larvae was examined under laboratory conditions. Larvae were offered plankton, plankton + trout starter (TS) and plankton + betaine supplemented trout diet (BTS) for 7 days after exogenous feeding. Five larvae were sampled to determine their gut contents and selectivity index for each treatment 15 min after the feeding. It was observed that dry diets (TS and BTS) improved the growth (P < 0.05), but did not significantly influence the prey selection of the larvae. It was determined that African catfish larvae preferred Copepods and Rotaria sp. to other zooplankton species for all feeding regimes. © TÜBİTAK.Öğe Seasonal variations in body length and fecundity of 2 copepod species : Thermocyclops crassus (Fischer, 1853) and Eudiaptomus drieschi (Poppe & Mrázek, 1895)(2014) Bozkurt, Ahmet; Can, Mehmet FatihThe effects of temperature, dissolved oxygen, nitrate, phosphate, and chlorophyll-a concentration on the body length and egg production of a cyclopoid copepod, Thermocyclops crassus, and a calanoid, Eudiaptomus drieschi, were evaluated. During the study, the body lengths of a total of 7590 zooplankton specimens (1110 rotifers, 3270 cladocerans, and 3210 copepods) were measured. The length of the majority of the species was significantly smaller in summer than in winter, fall, and spring, including that of the most dominant species, Asplanchna priodonta, Daphnia galeata, Daphnia longispina, Diaphanosoma brachyurum, Bosmina longirostris, Leptodora kindtii, Ceriodaphnia pulchella, Cyclops vicious, Metacyclops gracilis, and Acanthocyclops robustus (F > 5, p < 0.05). Correspondence analysis (CA) showed that the body length of the zooplankton studied was inversely related to water temperature, whereas it was positively related to ORP and pH. The results of our study suggest that, although nutrients (NO3 and SRP) apparently have an effect on zooplankton body length only in the mesotrophic reservoir, temperature influences the body length in both the mesotrophic and the eutrophic reservoir.
