Öğe Comparative Efficacy of Three Anesthetic Agents in Himri Barbel, Carasobarbus luteus (Heckel, 1843) under Controlled Conditions(Medwell Online, 2011) Gokcek, Kaya; Ogretmen, FatihIn this study, the efficacy of three anaesthetic agents (Clove oil, 2-phenoxyethanol and benzocaine) was compared in captive-bred Himri barbel, Carasobarbus luteus (Heckel, 1843). The lowest effective concentrations based on the efficacy criteria of complete anesthesia induction within 180 sec and recovery within 300 sec were determined to be 75 mg L-1 (induction 143 +/- 15 sec and recovery time 149 +/- 35 sec) for clove oil, 500 mu L L-1 (induction 145 +/- 27 sec and recovery time 57 +/- 16 sec) for 2-phenooxyethanol and 50 mg L-1 (induction 152 +/- 49 sec and recovery time 88 +/- 24 sec) for benzocaine. The onset of individual phases of anesthesia and recovery times depended significantly on the concentration of the anaesthetic used (p<0.05). An inverse exponential relationship was observed between concentrations of anaesthetic and induction time whereas exponential relationships were observed between concentrations and recovery times for all anaesthetic agents evaluated,Öğe The Effect of Different First Feeds on Proteolytic Activity of the Northern Pike, Esox lucius Linneaus 1758, Post-Larvae(Central Fisheries Research Inst, 2014) Hazman, Burak; Gokcek, KayaThe Northern Pike, Esox lucius, post-larvae were fed with trout micro diet, Artemia nauplii and plankton at the first ten days after yolk - sac absorption and the proteolytic activity of the post-larvae were measured. According to the results, the proteolytic activity was significantly affected by the different type of first feed (P<0.05). The highest protease activities were obtained on 2nd day in Artemia (228.22 +/- 15.44 U/mg) and plankton (302.78 +/- 45.85 U/mg) groups, and on 3rd day in micro diet (202.05 +/- 19.79 U/mg) group. After this point, the enzymatic activity started to decrease in all groups. Thereafter, the conspicuous increase in protease activities of larvae was determined on the day 8th in Artemia and plankton group, but on the day 9th in micro diet group (P<0.05). In contrast to other feeding groups, it is observed that feeding pike post-larvae with plankton caused more positive effect on proteolytic activity than the other groups.Öğe Efficacy of Clove Oil, 2-Phenoxyethanol and Benzocaine on European Catfish, Silurus glanis Linnaeus 1758(Central Fisheries Research Inst, 2017) Gokcek, Kaya; Ogretmen, Fatih; Kanyilmaz, MahirThe efficacy of clove oil, 2-phenoxyethanol and benzocaine was tested on captive-bred European catfish (wels), Silurus glanis L., 1758 in this study. According to effectiveness criteria, the most optimal implementation results were obtained from 100 mu l L-1 (induction 69.00 +/- 6.48 s and recovery 253.86 +/- 14.78 s) clove oil, 1000 mu l L-1 (induction 88.71 +/- 8.50 s and recovery 201.43 +/- 12.19 s) PE, and 100 mu l L-1 (induction 103.00 +/- 6.90 s and recovery 215.71 +/- 19.99 s) benzocaine. The concentration of anesthetics agent used directly affected the onset of each physiological respond (p<0.05). The relationship between doses and induction times was inverse exponential, in spite of that an exponential relationship was confirmed between doses and recovery times for all anesthetics. In conclusion, all these three anesthetics can be effectively used for wels.Öğe Larval rearing of african catfish (Clarias gariepinus) using european pine sawfly (Neodiprion sertifer) larvae as direct food(Ege Univ, 2006) Genc, M. Ayce; Turan, Funda; Akyurt, Ihsan; Gokcek, Kaya; Demirci, Aydin; Gurlek, MevlutThe objective of this study was to compare the effects of different alternative (locally available) diets and their combination on growth of African catfish, Clarias gariepinus larvae. Fish larvae (mean weigth 2.70 +/- 0.08 mg, mean lenght 0.75 +/- 0.05 mm and 2 days old) were fed one of five diets containing commercial trout starter diet (TY as control diet), tubifex, European pine sawfly (Neodiprion sertifer: CAT) larvae, tubifex plus TY and CAT plus TY for 18 days. Growth was nearly similar in TY, Tubifex and CAT + TY groups and typically, retardation was detected especially in CAT group. On day 6, 10, 14 and 18 mean weight of the larvae varied significantly (p > 0.05) between the treatments. The results of this feeding trial showed that, the tubifex supplementation was (improve the efficiency of dry diet, TY) significantly improve the growth and survival rates (p < 0.05) and it is advisable than the other diets of this experiment.Öğe Prey selection and diet composition of larval pike, esox lucius l., 1758, in lake isaszeg, Hungary(Parlar Scientific Publications, 2017) Demirci, Sevil; Gokcek, Kaya; Bozkurt, Ahmet; Szabo, Tamas; Urbanyi, BelaIii this study. Northern Pike larvae's digestive tract contents were examined inhabiting in Isaszeg reservoir lake. Hungary. In totally 19 thousand varieties of nutrients were found out. 12 of them derived from zooplankton and 7 of them from phytoplank- Ton. Northern Pike larvae's constitutive nutriment sources were zoological originated. Geometric Importance Index (Gil) were highest for Bosmina sp. with 1097.49 in this specie's larval nutrition. This was followed by Chydorus sp. (503.836) and Ther- mocyclops sp. (493.299) respectively. Pike starts to exogenous feeding at 12 mm length. In contrast to GII. Selectivity index (SI) were revealed that Ther- mocyclops sp. were preferred by pike larvae as the main food organism. © by PSP.Öğe PREY SELECTION AND DIET COMPOSITION OF LARVAL PIKE, ESOX LUCIUS L., 1758, IN LAKE ISASZEG, HUNGARY(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2017) Demirci, Sevil; Gokcek, Kaya; Bozkurt, Ahmet; Szabo, Tamas; Urbanyi, BelaIn this study, Northern Pike larvae's digestive tract contents were examined inhabiting in Isaszeg reservoir lake, Hungary. Five treatment groups were designed according to different stocking proportions of tilapia and himri and each treatment were triplicated. The study was carried out for 60 days by using 500 L net cages and fish were fed 2 times a day by commercial carp diet. Five stocking treatments were as follow: Si (100% tilapia), S2 (75% tilapia+25% himri barbel), S3 (50% tilapia+50% himri barbel), S4 (25% tilapia+75% himri barbel) and S5 (100% himri barbel). Polyculturing with tilapia had no adverse effects on himri stocks however total biomass at harvest and feed conversion ratio were negatively affected with increasing himri in tilapia stocks.
