Öğe Characteristics of neuropathic pain in patients with diabetes mellitus(2021) Güntel, Murat; Hüzmeli, Esra Doğru; Melek, İsmet; Urfalı, Senem; Urfalı, Boran; Aslan, Evrim; Korkmaz, Nilufer ÇetişliAbstractAim: Epidemiological data on the frequency, quantity, and consequences of symptomatic diabetic neuropathy remain poor. We conducted this study to examine the characteristic of neuropathic pain in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM).Materials and Methods: Average daily pain intensity was measured using a 100 mm visual analog scale (VAS). Localization of the pain, position that aggravated pain, frequency of the pain, duration of the pain, pain’s influence on daily living activities were examined. Results: The average patient age was 62.56 years and the number of males was 21 (42%). 29 Patients had only DM and 13 patients had hypertension (HT) plus DM, 4 patients had DM+HT+heart disease. The mean of pain according to VAS was 6.86±2.79. Thirtytwo patients defined that the pain affected their daily living activities negatively; 30 patients’ pain localization was lower extremity,12patients’ was upper and lower extremity; mostly pain was aggravated by standing and 40 patients’ pain frequency was as every day; 24 patients’ pain duration was less than 1 year and 18 patients’ was between 1-5 years. Conclusion: Studies on diabetic neuropathy are important drivers to improve the treatment of these patients. Neuropathic pain is considered to be more serious than other types of pain. So patients diagnosed with DM should be examined for neuropathic pain and the treatment plan should include pain decreasing medication and/or neurosurgical interventions.Öğe DETERMINING FACTORS AFFECTING OF THE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LEVEL OF OLDER ADULTS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC(2023) Uysal, Halil Hakan; Hüzmeli, İrem; Yılmaz, Yurdagül; Demir, Mustafa Batuhan; Hüzmeli, Esra Doğru; Çavlak, UğurObjective: Social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic adversely affected the physical and psychological conditions of the elderly. This study was planned to determine the factors affecting the physical activities of elderly individuals living in Turkey. Method: In this study, frailty level (Fragility Scale), depressive symptoms (Geriatric Depression Scale [GDS]), physical activity level (PASE Questionnaire), kinesiophobia (TAMPA Scale), and anxiety (Beck Anxiety Scale) of elderly individuals were evaluated by a structured Google survey. Regression analysis was used to determine the factors affecting the level of physical activity. Results: While 52% of the participants (28% male; 72% female; mean age: 69.34±15.03 years) stated that they were less physically active, 93% stated that their social participation decreased during the pandemic process. The mean physical activity score was 89.12±55.33 (the highest score was calculated for indoor activities: 32.00±21.34; the lowest score was calculated for work-related activities: 2.10±6.33). Kinesiophobia score was 41.44±7.39. Approximately half of the participants were in the category of “guarantees a comprehensive assessment for depression”, while 18% were in the category of “suggesting depression” and 30% were in the category of “no depression” (GDS mean score: 14.41±6.01). In addition, it was determined that 29% of the elderly had severe anxiety, 25% had moderate anxiety, and 24% had mild anxiety. The mean frailty score was 2.09±1.69 (normal 19%; pre-fragile 53%; frail 28%). According to univariate linear regression analysis and multiple regression analysis, the most factors affecting the level of physical activity were age, BMI score, fear of movement and fragility. Conclusion: The results obtained from this study showed that the physical activity level of the elderly decreased in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, increasing age, BMI score, kinesiophobia and fragility caused a decrease in the physical activity level of the elderly. These findings suggest that health policy makers and health care providers should organize appropriate care plans for the elderly after the pandemic period.Öğe İnspiratuar Kas Eğitimi Alan Astımlı Çocuk Olguda Üflemeli Enstrüman İcra Düzeyinin İncelenmesi(2021) Gökçek, Özden; Yurdalan, Ufuk; Hüzmeli, Esra Doğru; El, ÇigdemAstım, çocukluk çağında en sık görülen kronik bir hastalıktır.\rAstım hastalığında havayolu obstrüksiyonu ve ekspiratuar hava akımı\rkısıtlılığı mevcuttur. The aim of this study was to examine the morphological changes using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and evaluate the effectiveness of different treatment methods in patients with TMD. Methods: 34 TMD patients (18–62 years of age) were randomly divided into two treatment groups. Group A (n=18) was subjected to dry needling (DN) and mobilization for 10 sessions, Group B (n=16) was instructed to use occlusal splint with home exercises for one month. The control group included MRIs of 17 healthy adults that were randomly selected from the archives of Radiology Department of Mustafa Kemal University. The length and width of the masseter, lateral and medial pterygoid muscles and the depth of the mandibular fossa were measured and mandibular condyle types were recorded. Range of motion of each temporomandibular joint was evaluated in pre- and post-treatment periods to test the effectiveness of the treatment methods. Results: The size of the masticatory muscles in TMD group was significantly smaller than the control group (p<0.05). The depth of the mandibular fossa was significantly shallower in the TMD group (p<0.05). The most commonly encountered condylar shape was convex in the TMD group (63.6%), but flat (58.8%) in the control group. No statistically significant relationship was observed between condyle type and fossa depth (p>0.05). However, the fossa depth showed a significant correlation with muscle size (p<0.05) and this correlation decreased with dysfunction. Dry needling and mobilization significantly decreased pain and increased mandibular movements (p<0.05); however, there was no significant change for Group B. Conclusion: The anatomical structures associated with the temporomandibular joint seems to be affected in patients with TMD. We suggest that the limited movement of the temporomandibular joint may cause atrophy of the masticatory muscles, affecting the range of motion of the joint. Dry needling and mobilization techniques might be a more effective alternative than occlusal splint in the treatment of TMD.Öğe REVIEW OF CITY PARKS IN TERMS OF DISABLED RIGHTS(2021) Korkmaz, Nilüfer Çetişli; Bilek, Furkan; Hüzmeli, Esra Doğru; Gökçek, ÖzdenThe creation and presentation of independent and individual spaces for disabled individuals is the most important step of social integration. The main purpose of this report is to investigate whether some city parks in Turkey are suitable or not for the use of disabled individuals. This descriptive research includes the perception of disabled individuals about the city parks in Hatay, Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep provinces. Individuals with disabilities assessed the structure of city parks, ease of use, ergonomics and basic needs with basic 22- questions. The questions focused on respondents' experiences with specific destinations and environmental barriers. 150 disabled individuals, 53 from Hatay, 53 from Şanlıurfa and 44 from Gaziantep, were included in the study. Participants; 29.3% were using wheelchairs, 34% were using electric wheelchairs, 30% were using crutches and 6.7% were not using assistive devices. As a result of the study, it was seen that the parks were not convenient and useful for the disabled individuals. Deficiencies in city parks can avoid evaluating and ensuring the leisure time activities, social compliance and exercise activities for disabled individuals. Thus, we think that these environments can maximize opportunities for leisure activities and social participation by individuals with lifelong disabilities.Öğe Türkiye’de inmeli hastalarda telerehabilitasyonun etkinliği pilot çalışma(2017) Hüzmeli, Esra Doğru; Duman, Taşkın; Yıldırım, HaticeAmaç: Telerehabilitasyon (TR), ülkemizde çok yaygın bir şekilde kullanılmamaktadır.
