Öğe The effect of corn size and different harvesting times on saffron (Crocus sativus L.) regeneration(Int Soc Horticultural Science, 2007) Arslan, N.; Gurbuz, B.; Ipek, A.; Ozcan, S.; Sanhar, E.; Daeshian, A. M.; Moghadassi, M. S.Saffron has been a well known plant for a long time as spice, dye and medicinal plant. It has been cultivated in Anatolia since the ancient times. It has also been cultivated in large areas during the Ottoman Empire era and exported. But it lost its previous importance in the last century. A few farmers are growing saffron in limited areas of the Safranbolu province. In recent years, some studies have been made in order to improve saffron cultivation. Due to a lack of corm material, these kinds of studies are not being done regularly. This research was carried out in autumn 2004 and was finished in May 2006. In this study, the effects of different harvesting times (every year and every two years) and corm sizes on the number of corm obtained was investigated. Harvesting time and corm sizes impacted on flowering of saffron and new corm regeneration.Öğe Essential oil composition of Salvia heldreichiana Boiss. Ex Bentham described endemic species from Turkey(Chemical Publishing Co., 2007) Basalma, D.; Gürbüz, B.; Sarihan, E.O.; Ipek, A.; Arslan, N.; Duran, A.; Kendir, H.Plant material of Salvia heldrichiana Boiss. Ex Bentham was collected from the locality: C4 12th km on Konya, Hadim-Kizilkaya-Karaman road. Aerial parts of plants was dried in shadow then the leaves were separated from the stems. The essential oil was extracted from the leaves by hydro distillation method. The average content of essential oil was obtained as 0.22 %. The water-distilled essential oil from dried leaves of this species was analyzed by GC-MS. Total 60 components, representing 92.7 % of the oil, were characterized. The main component of essential oil was ?-pinene with 13.35%. The other important compounds were identified such as spathulenol, caryophyllene oxide, ?-cadinol, linalool and ?-terpineol.Öğe In vitro micropropagation of saffron(Int Soc Horticultural Science, 2007) Karaoglu, C.; Cocu, S.; Ipek, A.; Uranbey, S.; Parmaksiz, I.; Sarihan, E.; Arslan, N.Saffron has been produced and exported from Turkey until the XIXth century. However, at the present time, it is produced only in a few villages. Since saffron is a sterile triploid, it is propagated by corms as the propagation through seed is impossible due to non setting of seeds. The natural propagation rate of most geophytes including saffron is relati, ely low. In vitro techniques have been used for the micropropagation of various plant species. In the present study various explants including floral and corm segments were cultured on different nutrient media supplemented with various concentrations of plant growth regulators. New corms were produced on MS medium supplemented with 2 mg L-1 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) and 0.5 mg L-1 a-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) after 6 months of culture. Regenerated corms were kept at 5 degrees C for 5 weeks and then transplanted to a potting mixture.Öğe ON THE DETERMINANTS OF PENTADIAGONAL MATRICES WITH THE CLASSICAL FIBONACCI, GENERALIZED FIBONACCI AND LUCAS NUMBERS(L N Gumilyov Eurasian Natl Univ, 2011) Ipek, A.In this paper, we compute the determinants of several pentadiagonal matrices with the generalized Fibonacci, generalized Lucas numbers and the determinant of a pentadiagonal matrix with the classical Fibonacci numbers, and then we show how the classical Fibonacci numbers arise as determinants of some pentadiagonal matrices.
