Öğe Pre-Service Teachers’ Information Security Awareness: An Analysis Based on the Knowledge—Attitude— Behavior Model(2023) Benzer, Ali İhsan; Karal, YaseminInformation technologies have become an integral element of everyday life. Even slight vulner- ability in the safe use of information technologies may expose individuals, institutions, and even communities to difficult situations. Therefore, the issue of safe Internet use, also referred to as information security, is considered important and it is thought that efforts should be initiated to raise awareness among all members of the society starting from the first stage of the basic educa- tion. In this context, for enlightenment of students about information security, teachers assume an important role. Therefore, the levels of information security awareness of pre-service teachers, who will be the teachers of the future, are important. This study has two main aims. These are (A) to develop a valid and reliable scale for information security awareness based on knowledge–attit ude–behavior model and (B) examine the information security awareness of pre-service teachers in terms of various variables. The study was carried out with 350 pre-service teachers majoring in a variety of disciplines. As a result, a scale consisting of 71 items with 4 factors was obtained. It was found that there were positive correlations between the components of knowledge, attitude, and behavior that constitute the knowledge–attitude–behavior model adopted in the development of the scale. It was noted that the awareness levels of both female and male pre-service teachers were medium. It was revealed that male’s awareness scores were significantly higher than females. Additionally, it was found that the awareness of pre-service IT teachers was higher than others.Öğe The results of hemoglobinopathy screening in Hatay, the southern part of Turkey(2016) Oktay, Gönül; Acıpayam, Can; İlhan, Gül; Karal, Yasemin; Sakallı, Gülten; Yılmazoglu, Nurullah; Basun, SunaAmaç: ?-Talasemi ve hemoglobinopatiler yaygın genetik bozukluklardır. Tartışma: ?-talasemi taşıyıcılığı ve diğer hemoglobinopati sıklığının Hatay'da Türkiye'de diğer iller ile karşılaştırıldığında oldukça yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur.Öğe Screening of Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency in Cord Blood(Derman Medical Publ, 2014) Acipayam, Can; Orhaner, Betul Biner; Karal, YaseminAim: Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency is an important factor in etiology of pathologic neonatal jaundice. The aim of this study was to indicate the significance of screening glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency in the cord blood of neonates and the frequency of this deficiency in the etiology of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Material and Method: The study was performed consecutive 1015 neonates were included. Five hundred fifty six (54.8%) of them were male and 459 (45.2%) were female. The following parameters were recorded: Gender, birth weight, birth height, head circumference and gestational age. The glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase level of neonates were measured with quantitative method in cord blood. Also, hemoglobine, hematocrite, red blood cell count and blood group were measured. The following parameters were recorded in cases with jaundice: exchange transfusion, phototherapy, physiologic and pathologic jaundice, peak bilirubin day, maximum bilirubin level, total bilirubin level at the first day of jaundice, beginning time of jaundice. Results: Enzyme deficiency was detected in 133 (13.1%) of neonates and 76 (57%1 of them were male, 57 (43%)were female. Significant difference was detected in low glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase enzyme level with jaundice group for total bilirubin level at the first day of jaundice, maximum total bilirubin level and pathologic jaundice (p<0.05). Discussion: The ratio of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency was found in Edirne in this study and this ratio was higher than other studies conducted in our country. For this reason, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase enzyme level in cord blood of neonates should be measured routinely and high risk neonates should be followed up for hyperbilirubinemia and parents should be informed in our region.
