Checklist of the Hydraenidae (Coleoptera) of Turkey, with notes on distribution
(Magnolia Press, 2011) Ertorun, Nesil; Jaech, Manfred A.; Kasapoglu, Ahmet; Darilmaz, Mustafa C.
A checklist of the Hydraenidae recorded from Turkey is presented. The checklist includes data on the distribution and relevant references for 210 species/subspecies: two Aulacochthebius Leach, 113 Hydraena Kugelann, 21 Limnebius Leach, and 74 Ochthebius Leach. On the basis of their current distribution, the established 210 species/subspecies can be classified into 28 zoogeographical categories, grouped into six complexes. The largest number of species belongs to the group of Turkey endemics (49.05 %), which reflects the local character of the fauna.

Description of Hydraena (s.str.) tekmanensis (Coleoptera: Hydraenidae) from northeastern Turkey
(Magnolia Press, 2011) Jaech, Manfred A.; Skale, Andre; Kasapoglu, Ahmet
Hydraena (s.str.) tekmanensis sp. n. is described from northeastern Turkey (Erzincan and Erzurum Provinces). It is tentatively assigned to the H. rufipes group (H. eichleri complex).

MORPHOLOGICAL AND MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION OF AN ENDEMIC AND SIX KNOWN BILIMNEUS (HYDRAENIDAE: LIMNEBIUS) SPECIES FROM TURKEY
(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2018) Kasapoglu, Ahmet; Ertorun, Nesil; Mutlu, Mehmet Burcin; Atay, Erol; Cilli, Sibel
Limnebius has a worldwide distribution with more than 150 described species and 21 of them from Turkey, four of them are endemic for the Turkish fauna. Limnebius species are small water beetles which their morphologies are very uniform with oval and drop-like body shape. For this reason, taxonomists use male sex organs called aedeagi for classical taxonomical identification of Limnebius species. Molecular techniques have been widely applied in many disciplines of biological sciences including insect identification. These techniques improved over traditional morphological identification and allowed timely and unambiguous identification of insects. The enzyme cytochrome c oxidase is a large trans membrane protein complex found in mitochondrion of eukaryotes and bacteria, and cytochrome c oxidase 1 is the main subunit of the cytochrome c oxidase complex (COX 1). The aim of this study is to determine the evolutionary relationships of some Limnebius (Bilimneus) species (Coleoptera: Hydraenidae: Limnebius) (Limnebius atomus, Limnebius corfidius, Limnebius corybus, Limnebius myrmidon, Limnebius paranuristanus, Limnebius subunit 1 (COX 1) nucleotide sequences. Here, we present the first study on some Limnebius (Bilimneus) species from Turkey (1 of them is an endemic species) and their taxonomic identification was performed based on both classical morphological identification and DNA barcoding by using a near-complete DNA sequences of COX 1 gene.
