Öğe Comparison of yield, varieties at Cukurova(Int Soc Horticultural Science, 1997) Durgac, C; Kaska, NIn Turkey, apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.) is among the stone fruits whose production has markedly increased in recent years. The most important problem of culture is spring frosts. The Mediterranean coasts of Turkey from Samandag to Finike ate safe from late spring frosts and have a suitable ecology for early apricot growing. Since the winters in this area are rather warm, the chilling requirements of apricot trees are assumed to be short. The objective of this work was to select the most suitable high yielding, early ripening and good quality apricot varieties adaptable ecological conditions of Adana. The phenological and pomological characteristics of the cultivars were determined. 01-K-15, Bebeco, Perfection, Rouge de Sernhac, Cafona and 07-K-09 were the highest yielding cultivars, Early Kishinewski, Bebeco, 01-K-15 and Rouge de Sernhac bore the largest fruits and Silistre Rona and Perfection were the most precocious cultivars among those studied ones.Öğe Effects of different rooting dates of fresh runners rooted in pots on yield, precocity and quality of strawberries(International Society Horticultural Science, 2002) Özdemir, E; Kaska, NThis study was conducted during 1995-1996 at the Alata Horticultural Research Institute. The main purpose of this experiment was to compare the effects of different rooting dates of fresh runners rooted in pots (FRRP) on yield, earliness, and quality of 3 strawberry varieties (Dorit, Douglas, Cruz). Seven rooting dates (15 June, 30 June, 15 July, 30 July, 15 August, 31 August, 15 September) were examined. On each rooting date, runner tips obtained from the nursery were rooted in pots under an intermittent mist system for one month and transplanted. With respect to yield the most efficient rooting date was 15 June (529 g/plant). It was followed by plant set 30 June with 442 g/plant. Among the cultivars, Douglas was the highest yielding variety (382 g/ plant). The first fruit was harvested at the end of November from Dorit. The earliest fruits were produced by plant set 15 June and 30 June.Öğe The effects of plant type (Propagated in Eksibe sand dunes and high elevation) on yield, precocity and quality of strawberry cultivars planted under plastic house in fall and winter(International Society Horticultural Science, 2002) Özdemir, E; Kaska, NThis study was conducted during 1996-98 under plastic house on sand dunes in Alata (Igel) to compare the effects of plant type (propagated in Eksibe sand dunes and high elevation) on yield, precocity and quality of two strawberry cultivars (Dorit, Chandler) planted in fall and winter. The highest yields were obtained from plants type propagated in Eksibe sand dunes planted in fall (LEI) and high elevation(HE). Chandler was the highest yielding cultivar. The earliest fruits were obtained from plants propagated in Eksibe sand dunes planted in fall (LEI). While the first fruits were picked in December from Dorit propagated in Eksibe sand dunes planted in fall (LEI), those of sand dune and high elevation ones planted in winter (LE2 and HE) produced their fruits in March. Both varieties and plant types produced a good mean fruit weight, as well as total soluble solid content.
