Öğe In vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of various extracts of salvia microstegia (boiss.) et. bal. from antakya, Turkey(2009) Ozcan, Birgul; Esen, Mari; Coleri, Arzu; Yolcu, Hikmet; Caliskan, MahmutThe present study was performed to evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of various extracts (hexane, dichloromethane, methanol/chloroform, methanol/water and direct methanol) from Salvia microstegia (Boiss.) Et. Bal., a member of Lamiaceae family. Direct methanol extracts of S. microstegia exhibited more effective antibacterial activities on the Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. None of the extracts exhibited any antifungal activities on the Candida albicans ATCC 10231. The total phenolic components of S. microstegia was found 103.64 mg/g gallic acid equivalent. The antioxidant activity of the methanolic extract of S. microstegia was examined with two complementary test systems; 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and ß-carotene-linoleic acid assays. The 50% (IC50) inhibition activity of the methanolic extract of S. microstegia on the free radical DPPH was determined as 7.63 mg/ml. Araştırma alanında 1996-1997 yılları içerisinde toplanan yaklaşık 500 bitki örneğinin değerlendiril mesi ile 60 familya, 162 cins ve 252 tür saptanmıştır. Takson sayısı 253'dir. Toplam 252 türün ll'i C6 karesi, 43 'ü ise Hatay için yeni kayıttır. Türkiye için endemik tür sayısı 14'tür (% 5.6). Türlerin fitocoğraflk bölgelere dağılımları ve oranlan şöyledir: Akdeniz bölgesi elementleri 96 (%38.2), İran-Turan bölgesi elementleri 14 (% 5.6), Avrupa- Sibirya bölgesi elementleri 6 (% 2.4). Toplam taksonun 4'ü Pteridophyta, 249'u Spermatophyta divizyosuna aittir. Gymnospermae 4 taksona, Angiospermae 245 taksona sahiptir. Angiospermae'ye ait taksonlardan 206'sı Dicotyledones 39'u ise Monocotyledones sınıfına aittir. İçerdikleri tür sayılanna göre araştırma alanında bulunan 12 büyük familya sırası ile; Fabaceae (26), Lamiaceae (19), Asteraceae (17), Brassicaceae (14), Ramınculaceae (13), Liliaceae (10), Euphorbiaceae (9), Geraniaceae (9), Orchidaceae (9), Boraginaceae (8), Caryophyllaceae (8), Poaceae (8).
