Öğe Assessment of relationship between different communication methods and treatment compliance in orthodontic patients during Covid-19 pandemics(2023) Yılmaz, Hakkı; Zortuk, Fundagül Bilgiç; Köse, İlter BurakObjective: The aim of this study was to minimize impairment in oral hygiene and failure of brackets; therefore, effects of pandemic on treatment duration, by communicating our patients using 4 different methods during Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: In the study, 227 patients undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment were included. Five groups were designed: WhatsApp group, short message service (SMS) group, Teledentistry group, e-mail group and control group. During quarantine period, patients were contacted for 4 times and same text was sent to patients. After pandemics, the patients were assessed using mucogingival index (MGI), orthodontic plaque index (OPI) and failure of brackets was determined. Results: In MGI, percentage of patients with healthy result were as follows: WhatsApp group, 83.7%; SMS group, 87.8%; Teledentistry group, 83.7%; E-mail group, 77.5%; control group, 72.2% and no significant difference was found (p>0.05). The OPI scores were as follows: 1.12±1.24 in WhatsApp group; 1.27±1.28 in SMS group; 1.24±1.38 in Teledentistry group; 1.00±1.22 in E-mail group; and 1.61±1.25 in the control group and no significant difference was found (p>0.05). The mean number of brackets broken was 0.47±0.88 in WhatsApp group, 0.39±0.83 in SMS group, 0.51±1.00 in Teledentistry group, 0.40±0.67 in E-mail group and 0.44±0.86 in the control group and no significant difference was found (p>0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that communicating with patients in different ways did not make any difference in terms of the subjects investigated in the study. It was concluded that it would be more appropriate to conduct new studies including social and psychological evaluations.Öğe Evaluation of the surface properties of modified Ni-Ti arch wires(2021) Yılmaz, Hakkı; Zortuk, Fundagül Bilgiç; Ozyılmaz, Ali TuncayAim: Materials used in orthodontic treatment can cause corrosion and\rmetal ion release to the mouth. This study was aimed to examine the\rchanges in the friction coefficients and corrosion resistance of the\rmodified Ni-Ti arch wires.\rMethodology: Our sample consisted of 16 Ni-Ti arch wires (0.016 × 0.022\rinches). Coating bathes involving Ni-Ti, Ni-Ti-Mo, and Ni-Ti-Cr were\rprepared for arch wires coating. New surfaces were analyzed by Scanning\rElectron Microscope (SEM), and the crystallographic structure was\rdetermined by X-rays. The friction coefficient of the coated wires was\rdetermined by nanoindentation. Artificial saliva was prepared as a\rcorrosive condition. Impedance measurements were performed with an\relectrochemical analyzer. The AC impedance spectroscopy measurements\rwere performed after 4 hours, 7, 15, 30, 45, and 60 days.\rResults: All groups were more resistant than the control group (-447 mV)\r[group 1 (-388 mV), group 2 (-328 mV), group 3 (-327 mV), group 4 (-427\rmV), group 5 (-395 mV), group 6 (-366 mV), and group 7 (-380 mV)]. Friction\rcoefficients of group 5 (0.252) and group 6 (0.265) were observed to be\rlower than those of the control group (0.288).\rConclusion: In the results of our study, it was shown that the surface\rproperties of Ni-Ti wires could be electrochemically improved. The coated\rwires (group 5 and group 6) had a remarkable corrosion resistance and\rreduced friction. The protocols that we used should help provide betterquality surfaces.Öğe Ortodontistler arasında dijital model kullanımının değerlendirilmesi(2020) Ünüvar, Yazgı Ay; Cesur, Mine Geçgelen; Zortuk, Fundagül BilgiçAmaç: Bu anket çalışmasının amacı ülkemizde özel klinik, üniversite ya da devlet kurumunda çalışan ortodonti doktoru/uzmanı ve uzmanlık/doktora öğrencilerinin dijital ortodontik model kullanım yaygınlığını, bilgilerini ve tecrübelerini değerlendirmektir.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Türkiye'de çalışan 740 ortodonti uzmanı, doktora ve uzmanlık öğrencisine 20 sorudan oluşan bir anket gönderilmiştir. Mail yoluyla ve kongre, sempozyum ve toplantılarda 388 kişiye anket uygulanmıştır. Anket, demografik özellikler ve klinik özellikleri, dijital modele yönelik tutumları ve dijital model ile ilgili bölümlerden oluşmaktadır.Bulgular: 388 anketten elde edilen veriler analiz edilmiştir. Yanıt verenlerin yaş ortalaması 30 yıldır (dağılım: 23-55 yıl). Tüm prosedürler için 204 ortodontist (% 52.6) dijital modeli tercih etmiş, % 19.6'sı seminerlerden dijital model hakkında bilgi sahibi olduklarını bildirmiştir. Dijital modellerin kullanımında en sık belirtilen nedenler model kaybının ve model hasarının olmaması (% 44.8), ardından dijital görüntü üzerinde ölçüm yapabilmesidir (% 31.4). 300 ortodontist (% 77.3) dijital model hakkında daha fazla bilgi edinme isteğindedir.Sonuç: Verilerimiz dijital modelin ortodontistler tarafından yaygın olarak kullanıldığını göstermektedir; ortodontik tanı için dijital model tercihi, daha büyük teknik yetkinlik ile orantılı olarak artacaktır.
