Özet
The 2007 campaign of survey was conducted in the Lake Van basin and the Mt. A?ri region. Sixty-seven sites have been listed. Parallel to our previous conclusions, the sites explored also fall within the range from the Late Chalcolithic through the Late Iron Age. Almost all of the sites surveyed this year are multi-strata Settlements or fortresses located upon rocky hills on the plains or on the skirts of mountains bordering these plains. There are very few sites with a single phase. The earliest period attested in 2007 is the Early Bronze Age. The pottery of the EBA is in the tradition of Kura-Araxes/Karaz. The Middle Bronze Age (Araxes painted ware culture) is very limited when compared with the materials of other cultures in the region. The increase in the number of Settlements and fortresses from the Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age and the Middle Iron Age/Urartean period is striking. The pottery and architecture of this period continue from the preceding periods and are similar to those of the Southern Caucasia and Iranian Azerbaijan. The Late Iron Age has been attested more or less in most of the sites surveyed.
