Genital warts are benign, proliferative tumours, caused by human papilloma viruses, occurring in the genital, anal, perineal and/or perianal areas. Imiquimod shows antiviral activity by stimulating the production of interferon-a and various other cytokines and it is used for the topical treatment of genital warts. Although local skin reactions including erythema, itching and burning may occur after application of imiquimod, ulceration is not a common adverse reaction. Here, we present a 25-year-old man with severe ulceration occurring after application of imiquimod for genital wart.en_US
