dc.description.abstractObjective: To present a new technique to identify perineal and anal sphincter anatomy using an electrostimulator in order to facilitate anatomical repair. Methods: A neglected perineal tear was repaired using the technique described. Results: The patient's St Mark's incontinence score improved from 22 out of 24 to 6 out of 24. Conclusions: This technique may be practical and useful for intraoperative mapping of distorted perineal and anal anatomy to assist surgical repair. © 2008 International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics.en_US
