Özet
This study was conducted to determine the nutritional status of strawberry plantings in Silifke during 1998 and 1999. Soil and leaf samples were collected from selected strawberry plantings during full bloom and were analyzed. Soils of Silifke were slight alkaline, calcareous, loamy, low in humus, and slightly saline. Soils had sufficient available phosphorus, and the exchangeable potassium and magnesium contents were high, while the exchangeable calcium content was medium. Leaf analysis showed that most of the strawberry plantings had sufficient N, P, K, Mg, Fe, Cu, and Mn, but almost all the leaf samples had insufficient Ca content. Although the leaves had sufficient total Fe content, in some orchards the symptoms of insufficient Fe were observed. As a result, in order to compensate Ca deficiency, the use of foliar fertilizers, CaCO3, and jibs application to the soils can be useful. For iron deficiency, iron chealate of FeSO4 were used. A drip irrigation system must be established to prevent excessive soil water, and provide sufficient fertilization and irrigation.
