Hepatitis A virus infection is an important public health problem in our country due to the insufficiency of infrastructure. HAV infection frequency is related to socioeconomic status and environmental factors. In this study was investigated hepatitis A virus seropositivity according to age, sex and seasons in 528 serum samples sent from several policlinics and clinics to ELISA laboratory between October 2003 and October 2005. Results were analysed with Fisher's x(2) test. Two hundred and fifty-seven were male and 271 were female among the 528 patient. The average age of the patients were 38.1 +/- 20.1 years. Hepatit A virus infection seropositivity was determined as 81.1%. Anti-HAV seropositivity increases with age. There is no relation between hepatit A virus infection seropositivity with sex. In conclusion, HAV infection seropositivity rates was similar to the incidence in our country and it was considered for protection from infection which transmitted fecal-oral rout that must improved educational level and arranged socioeconomic status.
