Öğe A Comparative Study on Proximate, Mineral and Fatty Acid Compositons of Deep Seawater Rose Shrimp (Parapenaeus longirostris, Lucas 1846) and golden Shrimp (Plesionika martia, A. Milne-Edwards, 1883)(Medwell Online, 2009) Oksuz, Abdullah; Ozyilmaz, Ayse; Aktas, Mevlut; Gercek, Gozde; Motte, JelenaProximate, Fatty Acids (FA) and element compositions of two shrimp species, deep seawater rose-shrimp (Parapenaeus longirostris) and golden shrimp (Plesionika martia), were determined. Amount of lipid in P. longirostris and P. martia was found as 1.1 and 2.61%. Proportion of lipid in both shrimps was lower than that of marine fish. Surprisingly, FA profile of these 2 shrimp species can be comparable with that of marine fish. The amounts of PUFA's in both shrimp species were found higher than those of SFA and MUFA. Level of DHA in P. longirostris was significantly (p<0.05) higher than that of P. martia. In addition, major macro elements found in both of the shrimp species were Ca, K, Na, P and Mg. Zinc and iron were the major micro elements followed by Cu and Mn. Heavy metals such as, Cd and Cr, were in below the safe limits.Öğe A comparative study on proximate, mineral and fatty acid compositons of deep seawater rose shrimp (Parapenaeus longirostris, Lucas 1846) and red shrimp (Plesionika martia, A. The present review summarizes the studies which were made on Green tiger shrimp fisheried commercially in Eastern Mediterranean and being an important species economically. All studies were made in the Yumurtalik marine Research Station of the Faculty of Fisheries, University of Cukurova. The present review focus on catching off the broodstock from the nature, maturation in captivity, techniques in inducing gonadal maturation in captivity, techniques in inducing gonadal maturation, spawning, incubation of eggs, larvi culture, tolerance in salinity and temperature during culture period, PL production, PL culture in earthen concrete and fiberglass tanks, wintering of the juveniles. In addition, relating problems occurred in this process were also discussed.Öğe The Effects of 17 ?-Estradiol on Growth, Survival and Feminization of Green Tiger Shrimp, P. semisulcatus (Decapoda: Penaeidae)(Medwell Online, 2011) Aktas, Mevlut; Genc, M. AyceThe effects of 17 beta-estradiol were investigated on survival, feminization and growth of green tiger shrimp, Penaeus semisulcatus in different life stages. Egg, nauplius, protozoea, mysis and postlarvae were immersed in water containing 50 mu L-1 17 beta-estradiol from the beginning of the each stage to the end of the stage. The grow out were carried out about 4 months to emerging the secondary sexual characters in ventral side of shrimp in this ponds. The results of the experiment showed that the method of immersion 50 mu g L-1 17 beta-estradiol in eggs, nauplius, protozoea stages decreases the survival rate. The best feminization rate (71.88%) were observed in naupli group and this result was important statistically than control and other groups (p<0.001). Respect of the growth rate, the highest mean weight was 14.15+/-2.41 g in nauplii group and this followed by control (13.66+/-2.48 g) and egg groups (12.04+/-0.68 g) and were significantly different from the other groups (p<0.05).Öğe Effects of dietary mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) on growth, body composition, and intestine and liver histology of the hybrid Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus x O-aureus)(Israeli Journal Of Aquaculture-Bamidgeh, 2007) Genc, M. Ayce; Yilmaz, Erdal; Genc, Ercument; Aktas, MevlutThis is the first study on the effects of dietary mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) on growth, body composition, and intestine and liver histology of hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus x O. aureus). Experimental diets were prepared from commercial trout diet, supplemented with MOS at levels of 0, 1.5, 3.0, or 4.5 g MOS/kg feed and randomly assigned to triplicate groups. At the end of the trial, there were no significant differences between treatment groups (p>0.05) in growth parameters (live weight gain, specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio, protein efficiency ratio) or body indices (hepatosomatic and viscerosomatic). Dry matter and protein contents increased with increasing rates of dietary MOS (p<0.05) while the mean villi length of fish fed the diet containing 1.5 parts per thousand. MOS was significantly longer (p<0.05) than that of the fish fed 4.5%. dietary MOS. The different levels of dietary MOS had no detrimental effects on liver tissue or general fish health.Öğe Effects of dietary mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) on growth, body composition, and intestine and liver histology of the hybrid tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus x O. aureus)(2007) Genc, M. Milne-Edwards, 1883) (Decapoda : Pandalidae) in the deepwater of the northeastern Mediterranean(Ege Univ, 2006) Can, M. Fatih; Aktas, Mevlut; Demirci, AydinThis study was conducted between 12 and 13 June 2004 in the deep waters of the northeastern Mediterranean Sea. A commercial trawl vessel was used and total 6 hauls were done to get some preliminary information on the population structure and abundance of red shrimp, Plesionika martia (A. MilneEdwards, 1883). A total of 50 specimens were sampled. The overall sex ratio, 1 male : 6.14 female, was significantly biased towards females (p<0.05). The mean carapace length (CL +/- SD) and mean weight (W +/- SD) of males and females were calculated as 59.28 +/- 14.49 mm (43-77 mm), 7.58 +/- 3.16 g (4.16-11.73 g), 73.62 +/- 9.24 mm (44-87 mm) and 12.13 +/- 3.88 g (4.5-19,7 g), respectively. Significant differences were detected between mean carapace length and weight of males and females (p<0.05). The ratios of red shrimp in the total catch and in the total shrimp catch were calculated as 5.53 % and 6.84 %, respectively. P. martia specimen were observed in the three out of six hauls. The catch per unit effort in the third haul was 4.5 kg/h, in the forth hauls was 2 specimen/h, and in the fifth haul was 2 specimen/h.
