Öğe THE EFFECT OF COMPUTER-AIDED 3D MODELING ACTIVITIES ON PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS' SPATIAL ABILITIES AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS 3D MODELING(Sci Methodical Ctr-Sci Educologica, 2019) Benzer, Ali Ihsan; Yildiz, BunyaminThe computer-aided 3D modelling which is one of the innovative technologies can offer great opportunities to improve students' skills. The aim of this research was to examine the effects of computer-aided 3D modeling activities on pre-service teachers' spatial abilities and attitudes towards 3D modeling and the relevant course. The study group of the research was composed of 55 pre-service IT teachers at a state university in Turkey. The research was carried out in quasi-experimental design based on pre-post test model. The experimental research was carried out with the experimental group for 14 weeks. During the 3D modeling learning/teaching process, a five-stage education framework based on problem-based and project-based learning approaches was used. Purdue Visualization of Rotations Test and 'Attitude Scale towards 3D Modeling and 3D Modeling Course were used as data collection tools in the research. As a result, it was found out that computer-aided 3D modeling activities improved the spatial abilities of pre-service teachers also increased their attitudes towards 3D modeling and the course. It was concluded that the education of computer-aided three-dimensional modeling offers important opportunities to improve spatial abilities.Öğe The Evaluation of University Students' Views on Internet Resources(Elsevier Science Bv, 2013) Aydemir, Hasan; Benzer, Ali Ihsan; Karahan, Osman; Akmence, EgemenThe present time, which is described as the information age, internet is a very important source of knowledge. It is known that students widely make use of interne resources for their courses, research and projects. However, at this point, it is discussed that how reliable the internet resources are. Regarding this issue, there arc people defending that internet resources are reliable as well as people suggesting that they are not. In order to make the discussions on this issue clear, it is useful to evaluate in. internet resources epistemologically and scientifically. So, students' views on internet resources, their point of view and finally getting information about their awareness concerning this issue are important. In this study, the aim is to determine university students views on internet resources and to analyze them interms of different variables. The analyses will be realized in the context of educational technology. The study is a descriptive one and the data are obtained through likert-type items and analyzed with descriptive statistical techniques. It is expected that the results obtained through analyses will contribute to the discussion in question. (C) 2013 The Authors. For access to the relevant literature; the databases were searched by using the following keywords: computer, programming, and middle school together, limiting the findings to the articles published after 2000. As a result, an upward tendency was noted in studies about the teaching of programming at secondary level considering years, most of which are comprised of empirical ones. Also, the existing studies were mostly carried out with 6th graders predominantly employing data collection tools of questionnaires/scales and achievement tests. As for programming tools, Scratch was seen to be the most commonly used one. Although quite a few articles are investigating the context of the programming teaching lesson, some of the studies were found to use programming as a means of teaching mathematics, natural sciences, languages, writing skills, and social sciences. In conclusion, the present study is expected to pave the way for future research by highlighting the overall situation of programming teachingÖğe MODELS AND MODELLING IN SCIENCE EDUCATION IN TURKEY: A LITERATURE REVIEW(Sci Methodical Ctr-Sci Educologica, 2021) Benzer, Ali Ihsan; Unal, SuatThis research examined articles about models and modelling in the context of science education in Turkey by using content analysis method. Two specific academic databases; one of which was Dergipark, a platform including the academic journals published in Turkey, and Scholar Google were examined in detail so that totally 71 articles on models and modelling in science education were identified. The article analysis form developed by the researchers considering into the relevant literature was used to examine these articles. The findings were presented in tables and charts to show the frequency and percentile values regarding the articles examined. As a result, it was found that the purpose of most of the articles is to examine the effect of model / modelling-based teaching method. Concerning the discipline related in the articles, physics was seen to be on the top of the list, more specifically astronomy subject. As another result, qualitative research method appeared to be the most commonly used research method in the articles at hand. Lastly, it was found out that the most frequently examined variable was the mental model of the participants, and the most preferred data collection instrument was conceptual understanding test.
