Öğe Çukurova koşullarında bazı atdişi mısır genotiplerinin performanslarının belirlenmesi(2016) Demir, Ersin; Konuşkan, ÖmerBu araştırma, 2014 yılı ana ürün yetiştirme sezonunda Çukurova Bölgesini temsil eden ve farklı agroekolojik özelliklere sahip 3 ayrıalt bölgede (Reyhanlı-Hatay, Karataş ve Ceyhan-Adana) yürütülmüştür. Deneme tesadüf blokları deneme deseninde4 tekerürlü olarak kurulmuştur. Çalışmada ana ürün mısır çeşitleri kullanılmış olup ele alınan çeşitlerin, tane verimi ve bazı tarımsal özellikleri incelenmiştir. Araştırmada Pasha, Frida, 31P41, P1574,T83, DKC 6589,DKC 6590, DKC 6717, DKC 6815, Kalumet, Kopias, Kermes mısır çeşitleri kullanılmıştır. İncelenen özellikler yönünden mısır çeşitleri ve yetiştirme bölgeleri arasında önemli farklılıklar belirlenmiştir. En yüksek tane verimi Reyhanlı'da P 1574 (1244.6 kg/da), Karataş'ta Kermes (1593.6 kg/da), Ceyhan'da ise DKC 6589 (1479.3 kg/da) çeşidinden elde edilmiştir. Çeşit ortalamaları dikkate alındığında, Çukurova bölgesi için en stabil çeşitlerin DKC 6589 ve Kermes çeşitlerinin olduğu söylenebilirÖğe THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT SOWING TIMES ON CORN SILK TEA(Inst. The result of this study show that properties of raw, lyophilized products and evaporated materials are not changed at different sowing time. Kaium; Konuşkan, Ömer; Barutcular, Celaleddin; Erman, MuratThe grain yield of rice is far below from its potential yield due low organic matter and micronutrients in the soil. Application of cow dung and zinc fertilizer increases grain yield and quality. A field experiment was, therefore, conducted to evaluate the effect of zinc fertilization and well decomposed cow dung on the spikelet sterility, yield, zinc concentration in grains and plants of aromatic rice (cv. Tulshimala). In this experiment, two levels of well decomposed cowd ung (CD) of 0, 10 tha-1, and four doses of zinc fertilization viz. 0, 2.16, 4.32, 6.48 kg ha-1 of zinc were used following eight treatment combinations. The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD) with replication thrice. The data revealed that zinc fertilization remarkably increased the grain yield of Tulshimala by reducing the spikelet sterility percentages in both conditions of CD and the efficiency of zinc fertilization was superior in manuring (CD) condition to non-manuring condition. However, zinc fertilization at the rate of 4.32 kg ha-1 of zinc produced the maximum grain yields under manuring and non-manuring conditions. Zinc fertilization increased the concentration of Zn in the rice plants and grains without and with CD. The strong linear relationship between the grain yield and zinc concentration in the rice plants and grains was found with in this study. Zinc fertilization increased the grain yield and quality by decreasing sterility percentage under CD. Hence, for increasing productivity towards food security in future generation, integrated use organic and inorganic fertilizers should be used. © The authors.Öğe Effects of Different Plant Densities on Growth and Yield Characteristics of Hybrid Maize (Zea Mays L.) in Single and Twin Rows Plantings#(2022) Yalçın, Sadık; Konuşkan, ÖmerThis research was conducted to compare single and twin-row planting patterns and to determine optimum plant density for hybrid maize varieties (DKC5364, P0573), grown in Western Blacksee conditions of Türkiye, in the main crop growing season in 2020. The experimental design was a randomized complete block in a split-split plot arrangement with three replications. Hybrid maize varieties were in the main plots, planting patterns (single row (70 cm) and twin row (70-20cm) were in the split plots and plant densities of 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 plants/m2 were in the split- split plots. In the current study, plant height, first ear height, stem diameter, ears number per plant, ear length, ear diameter, and ear weigth were examined. Effects of varieties, planting patterns and plant densities on plant heights, first ear heights, ears numbers per plants and ear weigths were statistically significant. Higher values were observed at DKC5364 maize variety than P0573 variety for examined characteristics. The most suitable plant densities were determined as 11 plants/m2 for grain production and 12 plants/m2 for silage production in twin row plantig in Western Blacksee conditions of Türkiye.Öğe Effects of foliar applications of boron at the early vegetative stages on plant growth parameters of maize(Turkish Science and Technology Publishing (TURSTEP), 2019) Konuşkan, Ömer; Yalçın, Mehmet; Gözübenli, HüseyinBoron is an important micronutrient for growth and development of crop plants. Plant species differ in their requirement of boron for growth. This study was conducted to determine the effect of boron application on the plant characteristics of maize during early leaf stages. The experiments were conducted in Tel – Kaliş agricultural research area at the Mustafa Kemal University in 2015 and 2016 growing seasons. The field experiments were arranged in a split plot design with three replications. Four boron dosages (control, 4, 6 and 8 mg/m2 ) were applied at three growing stages (V2, V4 and V2V4 (at V2 and V4 stages in two equal parts) as foliar spray. The results revealed that the effects of foliar application of B were positive but statistically insignificant on plant characteristics. Further researches should be conducted for suitable boron application time at different growth stages of maize.Öğe Effects of foliar boron fertilization at early vegetative stages on silage yield and quality parameters of maize(Hatay Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi, 2020) Konuşkan, Ömer; Atış, İbrahim; Gözübenli, HüseyinAims: This study was conducted to determine the effects of various boron quantities applied at different vegetative growth stages of maize as foliar application on hay and silage yield and quality in Mediterranean ecological conditions. Methods and Results: Different boron fertilizer doses (0, 4, 6, 8 kg ha-1 disodium octaborate tetrahydrate (ETIDOT-67 (Na2B8O13.4H2O)) applied at early vegetative stages of maize (V2, V4 and V2+V4 as two portions) and the effects of boron on yield and quality prameters of maize were examined. As a result of study, higher silage and hay yields were observed at all boron applications in comparison with control and the highest yields (68.43 ton ha-1 silage and 21.58 ton ha-1 hay yield) were obtained at 8 kg ha-1 boron application. Also other boron doses had the statistically similar results. Although the highest yields in terms of application times were observed at boron applications at V2+V4 stages as two portions, the differences between the application times were not statistically significant Conclusions: We recommend that 4 kg ha-1 boron fertilizer application at early vegetative stages of maize for high silage yield and quality. Significance and Impact of the Study: Limited researches were performed on boron effects on hay and silage yields and qualities of maize up to now. This study revealed that the effects of boron application at early vegetative period of maize. Also, it is expected to be a source for further studies.Öğe Effects of salinity stress on emergence and seedling growth parameters of some maize genotypes (Zea mays L.)(2017) Konuşkan, Ömer; Gözübenli, Hüseyin; Atış, İbrahim; Atak, MehmetMaize is a very important cereal all over the world and generally cultivated in irrigated agricultural areas. Salinity affects adversely maize productivity in these areas. Maize is known as a salt sensitive species. The salt tolerance level identification in the large genetic resources and breeding populations is an important research topic for solving the salinity problem. The effects of NaCl stress on germination and seedling growth of fifteen maize genotypes were investigated in this study. Electrical conductivity (EC) values of the NaCl were settled 0 (distilled water), 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 dS m-1 . This investigation was performed as factorial arrangement of completely randomized design with four replications. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that genotypes, salinity levels and interaction between genotype x salinity were significant for all the investigated treatments emergence index (EI), root dry weight (RDW), shoot dry weight (SDW), root length (RL), shoot length (SL), and salt tolerance indexes (STI). Results also revealed that the highest reduction in emergence index (59.7%) were obtained in the highest level (12 dS m-1 ) of salinity. The results further revealed that the cultivars named DKC 6589, PR31G98, and PR31A34 were the most tolerant genotypes than the others under NaCI stress.Öğe Evaluation of grain and forage yield and forage quality traits in some hybrid maize genotypes cultivated as second crop under the Eastern Mediterranean conditions(2023) Ertekin, İbrahim; Konuşkan, Ömer; Atış, İbrahimThis research was conducted in order to guide farmers and researchers by determining grain, forage yield and yield-related traits and forage quality of different parts of the whole plant in some maize cultivars in Eastern Mediterranean ecological conditions. In this study, it was assessed grain and forage yield and fodder quality of four maize cultivars (PR91G98, SY Castaneda, SY Gladius, and SY Tuscani) cultivated under the Estern Mediterranean conditions. To determine forage quality, ear, stem and leaves of the whole plant maize were analyzed separately. To evaluate grain and forage yield, parameters like plant height, stem diameter, hay yield, dry matter yield, green leaf yield, green stem yield, ear weight, green ear yield were investigated while features such as crude protein, crude ash, organic matter, NDF, ADF, digestibility of dry matter, dry matter intake and relative feed value were examined to determine forage quality. The new maize cultivars have been updated continually; it is important to clarify the responses of new varieties to agronomic practices and forage yield, quality, grain yield, and related traits. The results of this study revealed that ear is very important for forage yield and quality. The greatest hay and grain yield were produced by PR31G98 maize cultivar. It was observed SY Tuscani had higher NDF and ADF values than other maize varieties. With this study, the importance of nutrient content according to silage yield and plant parts in second crop corn cultivation was determined. In addition, research results showed important source data for farmers and researchers regarding forage and grain yield of maize farming and production area is continually increasing.Öğe Forage yield responses of some maize genotypes at high plant densities in twin row planting pattern(2020) Konuşkan, Ömer; Atış, İbrahim; Gözübenli, Hüseyin; Akçalı, Cem TufanAims: This research was carried out in order to guide farmers andresearchers by determining the effect of high plant densities on forageyield of some silage maize genotypes in twin row planting pattern inEastern Mediterranean ecological conditions.Methods and Results: In this study, we evaluated the responses of threesilage maize genotypes (DKC 6589, Cadiz and Bolson) to high plantdensities (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 plant m-2) in twin row plantingpattern (50:20 cm). Research results showed that forage and hay yieldstended to increase with increasing plant densities up to 14 plants m-2, butdecreased in 15 plants m-2 density. The maximum yields were obtained at14 plants m-2in twin row planting pattern. It was determined that theyields of DKC 6589 and Cadiz genotypes were higher than Bolson. It wasconcluded that with the combination of appropriate genotype and plantdensity, silage yield can be obtained over 7 tons per hectare.Conclusions: Due to the improvement of new maize genotypes continually,it is important to determine the responses of new varieties to agronomicpractices. It is important to determine suitable plant densities in twin rowplanting pattern, which is an alternative practices in maize farming. Theresults of this study indicated that silage maize can be planted in highdensities in twin row planting pattern according to the traditional 70 cmsingle row planting method and the 14 plants m-2 density was the mostsuitable planting density in twin row planting pattern.Significance and Impact of the Study: The study revealed the effect of highplant densities in twin row planting, which is an alternative approach insilage maize production, and has revealed practical data for theMediterranean climate zone. Ziraat Fakültesi Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü Araştırma alanında 1998 yılında yürütülen bu çalışmada, beş mısır çeşidi (Cargjll 6127, Dekalp 626, Dracma, Pıoneer3394 ve TTM815), altı bitki sıklığında (5, 6, 7, 8, 9 ve 10 bitki/m2) yetiştirilmiştir. İncelenen özellikleri yönünden mısır çeşitleri ve bitki sıklıkları arasında önemli farklılıklar olduğu belirlenmiştir. Her çeşitten maksimum verim elde etmek için farklı bitki sıklıkları belirlenmiş olmakla birlikte en yüksek tane verimi 7 bitki/m2 sıklıkta elde edilmiştir.Öğe Near infrared reflectance spectroscopy and multivariate analyses for fast and non-destructive prediction of corn seed germination(Turkish Science and Technology Publishing (TURSTEP), 2020) Çeliktaş, Nafiz; Konuşkan, ÖmerThe application of near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) and multivariate analysis for determining the seed germination rate of corn genotypes was assessed. Seed samples about 90 gr belong to commercial and local corn varieties at various ages were scanned with FT-NIRS on the reflectance mode from 1000 to 2500 nm wavelength. Filter paper technique showed the seed germination rates varied between 18-100% depending on the genotypes after 7 days at ±25°C. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) was applied to the reference values corresponding to the spectra. The best statistical results obtained from the pre-treatment combinations of Smooth Savitzky-Golay 9 Points (sg9), MSC full and normalization to unit length (nle). The regression coefficient of calibration (R2C) and prediction (R2P) of the created NIRS calibration via chemometric software NIRCal are realized 0.97 and 0.98 respectively for the property of corn germination rate. The standard error of both calibration (SEC) and prediction (SEP) were almost overlapping (4.17%, 4.61% respectively). The prediction accuracy of the final NIRS model was quite reasonable with the acceptable root mean standard error of prediction (RMSEP) as 8.88%. According to the residual predictive deviation (RPD) index (4.18), the accuracy of the NIRS model regarded as in the best category. Therefore, the NIRS model developed here is sufficient to predict the corn seed germination rate very fast and non-destructively without using any regents.Öğe Structure of Wheat and Corn Farming: A Survey on Amik Plain Farmers(2020) Koçer, Mehmet Halis; Konuşkan, ÖmerThis study was conducted to identify the current problems of cereal crops like wheat and cornproducers and to suggest solutions for overcoming those problems in Amik Plain (Antakya,Kirikhan, Kumlu, Reyhanli districts) in Hatay province of Turkey. In this study, the primary datawas obtained by face-to-face survey from 100 cereal producers in Amik plain. All variables aregiven as frequency and percentage distribution, and numerical variables as mean. The surveyassessed the level of education of grain producers, the number of individuals in the farm, recordkeeping, social security, crops (wheat and corn) growing area, yield, sowing and harvest dateranges, property and leasehold land use, cultural practices and grain production. The data wereanalysed using simple statistical analysis methods (frequency, averages, percentage distribution).The results indicated that about 50% of the cereal producers had higher educational degree. It wasdetermined that producers had an average of 12.3 ha of wheat and 15 ha of corn cultivated area.Moreover, cereal production is well known as one of the cultural practices in the study area. Themain problem of grain producers is that the low cereal prices. In addition, the Turkish Grain Board(TMO) does not purchase the production at the time of harvesting. Moreover, high production costsand corn irrigation are considered other problems that cereal producers are facing.Öğe Yapraktan farklı düzeylerde bor uygulamasının ekmeklik buğdayın (Triticum aestivum L.) un kalitesine etkisi(2021) Dizlek, Halef; Konuşkan, ÖmerAmaç: Ülkemizde tahıl yetiştirilen tarım arazisinde bor, çinko ve magnezyum gibi mikro besin elementlerinin miktarında azalma olduğu bilinmektedir. Söz konusu mineral maddeler buğday kalitesi üzerinde etkilidir. Bu çalışma, Hatay ilinde buğdayın kalitatif özelliklerine bor muamelesinin etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışmada, Sagittario çeşidi yumuşak ekmeklik buğdaya (Triticum aestivum L.) farklı düzeylerde (0 [kontrol], 5, 10, 20 ve 40 kg/da) yapraktan seyreltilmiş borik asit uygulaması yapılmış ve bu muamelenin buğdayın bazı kalite özelliklerine etkisi incelenmiştir.Materyal ve Yöntem: Deneme, tesadüf blokları deneme desenine göre 3 tekerrürlü olarak 2016-2017 yılında, Hatay Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü Araştırma ve Uygulama arazilerinde yürütülmüş, bayrak yaprak ve çiçeklenme dönemlerinde olmak üzere iki kez seyreltilmiş borik asit uygulaması ile buğdayın ekmeklik kalitesinin arttırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bunun için buğday örneklerinin ekmekçilik açısından önemli olan teknik değer ölçütleri belirlenmiştir.Araştırma Bulguları: Kontrol numunesine göre muhtelif dozlarda borik asit uygulamasının buğdayların fiziksel, kimyasal ve teknolojik özelliklerine etkisi çok sınırlı düzeyde olmuş, belirgin ve anlamlı bir etki tespit edilememiştir (p>0.05).Sonuç: Araştırmada ele alınan en yüksek borik asit düzeyinin (40 kg/da) buğdayın teknolojik niteliklerinde bir miktar gerilemeye yol açtığı, bunun kullanılan borik asit düzeyinin fazla olmasından kaynaklandığı düşünülmektedir. Araştırmanın çok yıllık olarak ve farklı nitelikteki buğday numuneleri üzerinde uygulanmasının yararlı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Bundan sonraki yapılacak olan çalışmalarda yaprak yerine toprağa borik asit uygulaması yapılmasının ürün kalitesine etkisi araştırılabilir.
