Öğe An Investigation of Special and Physical Education Pre-Service Teachers' Vocational Self-Esteem(Ani Yayincilik, 2011) Oz, Aysegul Sukran; Gumus, Suad Sakalli; Kirimoglu, HuseyinProblem Statement: Having a profession that is respected by the society and earns a good income plays a key role for individuals to be happy and productive adults. The responsibility of teacher education, which is culturally regarded as a privileged profession in Turkey, is given to four-year teacher education programs. Positive attitudes towards teaching profession and self-esteem play an important role for teachers in successfully performing their profession. There are numerous factors that affect individuals' vocational self-esteem. Some of them are gender, the graduates' employment-chance of the specific programs and the attitude of the society towards the specific teacher education program. Literature emphasizes the need to examine vocational self-esteem possessed by the various professional groups and the college students. The aim of this research was to contribute to existing literature by providing information about the factors that affected vocational self-esteem of the first year students of Special and Physical Education Programs. Purpose of the Study: This study aimed at investigating the vocational self-esteem of pre-service teachers who are attending at Special Education and Physical Education Programs in different regions of Turkey. Methods: Personal Information Form designed by the researchers and a Ancak Vocational Self-Esteem Scale were used in the study. The population of the research was consisted of the universities with Special Education Programs. Sample group was made up by the first year students of Special Education and Physical Education and Sport Teacher Programs of these universities. Descriptive statistics and survey method were used in this study. Findings and Results: The results revealed that teacher candidates' majors, gender, familial income level, having an individual with a disability in the family were not determining factors for teacher-candidates' vocational self-esteem. It was found that male students of Physical Education and Sports Teacher Programs had higher vocational self-esteem. Conclusions and Recommendations: As a conclusion, Vocational self-esteem characteristics of the teacher-candidates of Special Education Programs and Physical Education Programs showed similarity to those in the literature. We could not detect any significant differences between the two programs. Considering the foundations of the vocational self-esteem of the teacher-candidates are laid from the first year at the teaching programs, it is essential to increase the quality of teacher education institutions and to conduct different studies that utilize variety of research methods.Öğe A Review of the Studies on Learning Disabilities through Content Analysis(Ediciones Univ Salamanca, 2019) Uzunboylu, Huseyin; Oz, Aysegul SukranLearning disability is associated with inabilities in reading-writing, mathematical-arithmetic skills, speaking, listening and reasoning and it's prevalence has increased strikingly among school-aged children especially in recent years. This study aims to determine the current situation and trends in learning disability research through content analysis. Content analysis was used as qualitative research method. Data of the study were obtained from Web of Science by using the keyword learning disability. In order to analyze the obtained data, previously determined content analysis criteria were used. These criteria included year of publication, document type, organization, funding agencies, authors, name of the journal, country, language and research area of the researches. Data were analyzed and provided with frequency and percentages and shown with tables and figures. Results were presented in detail with reference to previous literature and recommendations for further research and practices are provided.Öğe SKILLS &CONCEPTUAL TEACHINGIN EDUCATION: INVESTIGATION OF POST GRADUATE THESIS(Inst Integrative Omics & Applied Biotechnology, 2018) Demirok, Mukaddes Sakalli; Oz, Aysegul Sukran; Aysever, Harun; Karabacak, Serap MeralThis study was carried out to examine master and doctorate thesis about skills and concept teaching in special education between 2010-2016 years, determine the advancements in skills and concept teaching studies and pave the way for researchers in their future studies. In order to achieve this aim, thesis were evaluated based on year, method, data collection tools, research sample, data analysis technics, research areas and results. Thesis were examined with document analysis as part of descriptive approach and Thesis Classification Form was used for content analysis of each thesis. Open access thesis carried out between 2010-2016 related with skills and concept teaching from YOK National Thesis Database are included in the study. Content analysis method was used in data analysis. Results showed that thesis were mainly master thesis and single-subject research method as one of the quantitative research methods was frequently used in the thesis. When data collection tools of thesis were examined, it was found that observation, questionnaire and scales were frequently used, research sample mainly included students and there were 1-10 subjects in the sample. Lastly, results also showed that research areas of thesis focused on simultaneous prompting method, constant time delay procedure and teaching with video-tablet.
