Influenza is a respiratory infection that causes illness of 3-5 million people and 300.000 to 500.000 deaths annualy, worldwide. Though influenza viruses cause serious complications among children, pregnants and persons aged >65 years, influenza disease can occur among persons of all ages. There are two types of influenza vaccine; trivalent inactivated (killed) influenza virus vaccines (TIV) and trivalent live attenuated influenza virus vaccine (LAIV). Influenza vaccines contain three different viruses; two different influenza type A strains and one influenza type B strain.
