Kültürlerarası iletişim kaygısı ile sosyo-kültürel adaptasyon ve yaşam doyumu arasındaki ilişki: Hatay Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi örneği

Özet
Küreselleşmeyle sosyo-kültürel alanda yeni imkânlar oluşmuştur. Bunlardan biri de öğrencilerin farklı programlar aracılığıyla yeni kültürlere dâhil olabilmesidir. Yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin dâhil oldukları toplum içerisinde eğitim sürecini başarılı bir şekilde devam ettirebilmeleri için kültürlerarası iletişim kaygılarının en aza indirgenmesi ve sosyo-kültürel adaptasyon düzeylerinin yüksek olması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Hatay Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim gören yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin kaygı ve adaptasyon düzeyleri arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. 205 öğrenciyi kapsayan saha araştırması sonucu elde edilen veriler, yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin kültürlerarası iletişim kaygıları ve sosyo-kültürel adaptasyon düzeyleri arasında negatif yönde bir ilişki olduğunu göstermektedir.
Globalization has enabled new opportunities in the socio-cultural field. One of them is that students can participate in new cultures through different programs. In order for the foreign students to continue their education process successfully with in the society they are included, intercultural communication anxiety should be minimized and the sociocultural adaptation levels should be high. In this study, the relationship between anxiety and adaptation levels of foreign students studying at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University was investigated. The data obtained from the field research which includes 205 students shows that there is a negative relationship between the intercultural communication anxiety and socio-cultural adaptation levels of foreign students.
