dc.description.abstractBu çalışmanın amacı sentez metin yazma becerisini geliştirmeye yönelik olarak düzenlenen eğitimin, ortaokul 7. sınıf öğrencilerinin sentez metin oluşturma başarısına etkisini araştırmak; öğrenci ürünleri ve eğitim sürecine ilişkin öğrenci görüşleri yoluyla eğitimin etki durumunu değerlendirmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, Hatay il merkezine bağlı bir devlet okulunun 7. sınıfında öğrenim gören 51 öğrenciyle (26 deney, 25 kontrol grubu) yapılan araştırma, karma yöntem desenlerinden İç İçe Desene göre modellenmiştir. Araştırmada öntest - sontest kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desene göre yapılan eğitim uygulaması çalışmanın nicel boyutunu oluşturmaktadır. Nicel boyuttan elde edilen bulguları açıklamak ve desteklemek için yapılan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler ve doküman analizleri de çalışmanın nitel boyutunu oluşturmaktadır. Nicel boyutta, deneysel uygulamadan önce grupların eşitlenmesi sürecinde deney ve kontrol grubu, sentez metin yazma başarısını etkileyebileceği düşünülen okuduğunu anlama başarısı, genel yazma başarısı, ön bilgi ve Türkçe dersi akademik başarılarına göre eşleştirilmişlerdir. Deneysel uygulamada, öğrencilerin sentez metin yazma becerilerini geliştirmek amacıyla hazırlanan materyallerle eğitim verilmiştir. Araştırmanın nicel verileri, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Sentez Metin Yazma Analitik Değerlendirme Rubriği, Yazılı Anlatım Değerlendirme Rubriği ve Ateş (2008) tarafından geliştirilen Okuduğunu Anlama Testi ile toplanmıştır. Nitel boyuttaki görüşme verileri için de yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre, sentez metin yazma eğitimi alan öğrencilerin öntest ve sontest puanları arasında sontest lehine anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu belirlenmiştir. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının sontestlerinde deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca sentez metin yazma eğitimi almayan kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin öntest ve sontest puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı görülmüştür. Doküman incelemesi ve görüşmeler yoluyla toplanan nitel verilerin de nicel sonuçları desteklediği, sentez metin yazma eğitimi alan öğrencilerin metinlerinin niteliğinde ve öğrenci görüşlerinde olumlu değişimler olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, sentez metin oluşturma eğitiminin öğrencilerin sentez metin oluşturma başarılarını; konuyla ilgili görüş ve duygularını olumlu yönde etkilediği görülmüştür.en_US
dc.description.abstractThis study seeks to look into the effect of the training aimed at improving the skills to write a synthesis text on the achievement of the seventh grade students at secondary school in writing a synthesis text, and to evaluate the impact of education based on student products and student opinions on the training process. To that end, with the participation of 51 students (26 in the experimental group and 25 in the control group) at seventh grade level in a public secondary school in the city of Hatay, Turkey, this study follows embedded design, which is one of the mixed method designs. A training is performed in quasi-experimental research design with a pre-test post-test control group for the quantitative part of this study. In the qualitative part, semi-structured interviews and document analysis are carried out to explain and support the findings obtained from the quantitative part. In the quantitative part, prior to the experimental practice, the experimental and control groups are matched according to reading comprehension achievement, overall writing success, prior knowledge and academic achievement in Turkish language course, which are believed to affect the success of writing a synthesis text. The experimental practice is a training with materials aimed at improving student skills in writing a synthesis text. The quantitative data of this study are collected through the Reading Comprehension Test designed by Ateş (2008), the Analytical Evaluation Rubric for Writing Synthesis Text and the Evaluation Rubric for Written Expression developed by the researcher. Semi-structured interview forms are designed to obtain the interview data in the qualitative part. The results of this study show that there is a significant difference for the post-test between the pre-test and post-test scores of the students who participated in the training for writing a synthesis text. Also, there is a significant difference for the experimental group between the post-test scores of the experimental and control groups. Yet, there is no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the students who did not participate in the training for writing a synthesis text. It is notable that the qualitative data obtained through document analysis and interviews support the quantitative results and that there are positive changes in the quality of the texts produced by the students participating in the training and student opinions. In conclusion, this training has a positive effect on the success of the students in writing a synthesis text and on their opinions and feelings on writing a synthesis text.en_US
