Özet
Son 25 yılda kişisel bilgisayarlar (PC) hayatımızın her evresine girmiş, hem önemli faydalar sağlamış, hem de genellikle göz ardı edilen problemlere yol açmıştır. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, günümüzde işletmelerde sayıları hızlı bir şekilde artan PC'lerin oluşturduğu yönetsel sorunlar ve değişik çözüm yolları ve yöntemlerini ortaya koymak ve değerlendirmektir. Genel anlamı ile firmalarda görevli yöneticilerin kişisel bilgisayarların sunduğu faydaların farkında olduğu, ancak problemler ve çözüm önerileri konusunda yetersiz bilgiye sahip olduğu ve bilgisayarlar sistemlerinin yönetimini yönetsel bir problemden ziyade, teknik bir problem olarak algıladıkları ortaya çıkmıştır.
As in the last 25 years, Personal Computers (PCs) increasingly penetrate our lives, hence causing both important benefits and mostly underestimated disadvantages. The main purpose of this research is to assess and discuss the major managerial problems with PC proliferation in today's organizations and present some possible solutions. The results revealed that managers are generally aware of benefits of PCs, while they usually have limited knowledge of the problems posed by PC proliferation and the effective management strategies of PC assets of their organizations and they perceive PC management as a technical activity, rather than a managerial activity.
