Özet
Background: Colchicine overdose is uncommon but extremely serious and it is associated with considerable mortality. Previous reports have shown that granulocyte colony-stimulating factor therapy was an effective method of treating the colchicine related pancytopenia. Case Reports: We describe a case of suicidal ingestion of 15 mg of colchicine in a previously healthy 23-yearsold woman. During nasogastric tube insertion, nasal bleeding developed in the emergency room and stopped after anterior nasal tamponage. Following days, patient's platelet counts decreased to 14.9 K/UL due to bone marrow suppression. In spite of all therapeutic approach including granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, our patient died on 5th day due to severe bleeding. Conclusions: Bone marrow suppression may be resistant to granulocyte colony-stimulating factor in colchicine poisoning. We recommend that all invasive procedures were performed more carefully in patient doubted colchicine ingestion.
