Abstract
Çalışma, Japon bıldırcınlarında (Coturnix coturnix Japonica) eşeye ve yaşa göre karkas özelliklerindeki değişimi irdelemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Bıldırcınlar 6 hafta süreyle besiye alınmış, denemenin 5. ve 6. haftasında bıldırcınlar kesilerek karkas değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır. Denemenin 5. haftasında erkek ve dişilerde kesim ağırlığı ortalama 205.6±4.25 ve 225.0±2.77 g, karkas ağırlığı ise 143.410.80 ve 156.512.04 g, 6. haftada aynı eşey sırasına göre değerler 205.612.77 ve 230.415.85 g; 142.613.34 ve 154.613.37 g olarak belirlenmiştir (P<0.05). Her iki haftada da karkas randımanları benzerlik göstermiş, yenilebilir iç organlar dişilerde erkeklerden önemli derecede yüksek bulunmuştur (P<0.05). Sonuç olarak tüm haftalarda dişiler erkeklerden daha yüksek canlı ağırlığa sahip olmuş ve erkeklerde 5. haftadan sonra canlı ağırlık kazancı gözlenmemiş, dişilerde karkas ağırlığında düşüş belirlenmiş ve en uygun besi süresinin 5 hafta olduğu saptanmıştır.
The present study was conducted to examine change of carcass characteristics according to age and sex in Japonese quails (Cotunux coturnix japonica). Quails were fed for 6 weeks, at the 5th and 6th weeks of the experiment random choiced quails were slaughtered and carcass characteristics were determined. At the 5th weeks of the experiment body weight gain was 205.614.25 and 225.012.77 g, carcass weight was determined to be 143.410.80 and 156,512,04 g for male and female quails respectively. At the 6th weeks of the experiment body weight gain 205.612,77 and 230,415.85 g significantly, carcass weight was found 142.613.34 and 154.613.37 g significantly for male and female quails respectively. Carcass yield was similiar for both 5th and 6th weeks of the experiment, internal organ weights were found higher in female quails than male quails. As a result of the experiment, body weight gain of the female quails was higher than male quails in all weeks. Male quails didn't gain body weight after 5 weeks. For this reason, the results showed that most appreciate fattening period was 5 weeks.
