dc.description.abstractAmaç: Sigara içiciliğinin optik aberasyonlara etkisini değerlendirmek. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya 100 olgunun (68 erkek, 32 kadın) sağ gözü dahil edildi ve olgular sigara içen (n=50) ve sigara içmeyen (n=50) olarak iki gruba ayrıldı. Sigara içen grup; günde 1 paketten daha az sigara içenler hafif içici, günde 1 paket ve üzerinde sigara içenler ağır içici olarak iki gruba ayrıldı. Olguların göz kırpmadan sonraki 3-5. saniye içinde korneal aberasyonları Sirius korneal topografi cihazı ile ölçüldü. Olgulara schirmer ve gözyaşı kırılma zamanı (TBUT) testi yapıldı. Bulgular: Sigara içen grubun ortalama TBUT değeri 6,1±2,58 sn, sigara içmeyen grubun ortalama değeri 9,28±3,41 sn saptandı (p<0,001). Sigara içen grubun ortalama schirmer değeri 10,62±3,60 mm, sigara içmeyen grubunun ortalama değeri 13,26±4,63 mm. bulundu (p<0,001). Sigara içicilerinin ortalama sigara içme süresi 11,08±6,62 yıl, ortalama günlük paket tüketimi 0.99±0,41 paket/gün'dü. Sigara içen grubun %90‟ında (n=45) TBUT değeri anormal saptanırken, sigara içmeyen grubunun %40‟ında anormal saptanmıştır (p<0,001). Sigara içen grubun %50 sinde (n=25) schirmer anormal saptanırken, sigara içmeyen grubunun %26‟sında (n=13) anormal saptandı (p=0,023). Sigara içenlerin 14‟ü hafif içici iken, 36‟sı ağır içiciydi. Sigara içen grupta; sigara içme süresi (yıl) ve paket/yıl ile TBUT değeri arasında çok anlamlı negatif orta düzeyde bir korelasyon (p<0,001, p=0,013) saptandı ve sigara içen grupta TBUT değerindeki değişimin % 12,1‟ inden paket/yıl sorumlu bulundu. Sigara içen ve içmeyen gruplar arasında HO aberasyon açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark vardı (p<0,05). Sonuç: Sigara HO aberasyon değerlerini gözyaşı film tabakasındaki aköz ve lipit tabakayı etkileyerek artırmaktadır.en_US
dc.description.abstractObjective: To evaluate the effect of smoking on optical aberrations. Method: Right eyes of 100 subjects (68 male, 32 female) were involved in the study and the subjects were divided into two groups; smokers (n=50) and non-smokers (n=50). Smokers; those smoking less than a pack of cigarettes were categorized as light smokers and those smoking a pack of cigarettes and more than a pack of cigarettes were categorized as heavy smokers. After 3-5 seconds of blink, the corneal aberrations of the subjects were determined through Sirius corneal topography. The schirmer and tear break-up time (TBUT) tests were performed. Results: It was determined that the smokers‟ mean TBUT value was 6.1 ± 2.58 seconds while the non-smokers‟ mean TBUT value was 9.28±3.41 seconds (p<0.001). The smokers‟ mean schirmer value was 10.62±3.60 mm, the non-smokers‟ mean schirmer value was 13.26±4.63 mm (p<0.001). Smokers‟ mean smoking time was 11.08±6.62 years, their daily amount of consumption was 0.99±0.41 packs/day. TBUT value was abnormal in 90% of the smoker group (n=45), whereas it was abnormal only in 40% of non-smokers (p<0.001). It was detected that schirmer was abnormal in 50% of the smoker group (n=25), while it was abnormal in 26% of non-smokers (n=13) (p=0.023). The number of heavy smokers was 14 while the number of light smokers was 36.; it was determined that there was very significant negative medium level correlation between duration of smoking (years) and pack/years (p<0.001, p=0.013) with TBUT values in the smoker group; besides it was also found that the pack/years led to the changes in TBUT values in the smoker group 12.1%. There were statistically significant differences between non- smoker and smoker groups in terms of HO aberrations (p<0.05). Conclusion: Smoking increases HO aberration values by affecting aqueous and lipid layer in the tear film. Key words: Smoking, TBUT, schirmer test, corneal aberrations.en_US
