Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı, son zamanlarda büyük gelişme gösteren ekolojik turizmin kırsal kalkınmanın sürdürülebilirliği açısından önemini vurgulamaktır. Turizm sektörü, günümüzde ekonomik ve sosyal getirileriyle büyük bir potansiyel haline gelmiştir. Küreselleşme olgusuna bağlı olarak, dünyada birçok sektörde olduğu gibi turizm sektörü de bir takım değişimlere sahne olmuştur. Dünyadaki yeni turizm eğilimleri, değişen talebe bağlı olarak, tarih, sağlık, doğa, kültür ve kırsal turizm yönünde gelişmektedir. Bu tarz turistik arz potansiyeline sahip ülkeler turizm talebine bağlı olarak geliştirdikleri yeni turizm politikalarıyla kırsal kalkınmayı gerçekleştirebilmektedirler. Bu ülkelerin bir tanesi de Türkiye’dir. Türkiye coğrafik konumundan dolayı tarih, sağlık, kültür ve kırsal turizm gibi çok sayıda seçeneğe sahiptir. Bu seçeneklerin en önemlilerinden biri de ekolojik turizmdir. Turizmin bir alt sektörü olan ekoturizm seyahat ve açık hava aktivitelerinin birleşimiyle oluştuğundan, tek aktiviteli diğer alt sektörlerin iki katı turizm büyümesine sahiptir. Ancak, uygulamalar başladığında karşılaşılan en önemli sorun, onun da sürdürülebilirliği olmuştur. Bu çalışmada ekolojik turizmin sürdürülebilir kırsal kalkınmada yeri ve önemi üzerinde durulacaktır. Sürdürülebilir nitelik taşımayan hiçbir turistik eylemin uzun süreli olamayacağını vurgulayan bu çalışmanın, bu konudaki bilinci arttıracağı düşünülmektedir.
The purpose of this study is to emphasize the importance of ecological tourism, recently showing great improvement, for the sustainability of rural development. With its economic and social benefits, the tourism sector has become a great potential today. As in all sectors, globalization has brought some changes in tourism, too. Depending on changing demands, new tourism trends in the world are developing in the direction of history, health, nature, culture and rural tourism. Countries with resources suitable for such new tourism demands, have the potential rural development with suitable tourism policies improved by them. One such country is Turkey; with her geographical position, it has several resources suitable for different types of tourism; namely history, healt, culture and rural tourism. The most important one of them is ecotourism. Being a subsector of tourism, ecotourism is composed of travel and outdoor activities and hence it has the potential of double growth when compared with the other subsectors having only one activity. However, its sustainability has been the most crucial problem encountered since the applications started. This study investigates the place and importance of ecologıcal tourism in sustaınable rural development. This study is considered to increase the awareness on this issue that any touristic activity which has no sign of sustainability will by no means last long.
