Özet

This study aimed to present the Turkish Musical Instruments and the instrument tradition in the Gypsy culture by visualizing it on a postage stamp and to re-synthesize it in a different form. According to the classification made in terms of traditional Turkish music, the types of instruments used include stringed, wind, and percussion instruments. As a consequence, the study is limited to these three types of instruments and the postage stamps issued by the Postal Administration in this field. The study has been advanced through the descriptive method, one of the quantitative research methods, and written and visual sources have formed its basis. Drum and zurna, which are the national instruments of our country, are the foremost instruments used in all regions. In addition, saz and baglama culture is also very common. While some instruments have been forgotten over time, the use of some has remained more local, and some of them have been replaced by Western-style instruments. With this work, a nostalgic stamp album can be published on traditional Turkish instruments and the instrument tradition in Gypsy culture. It is also thought that the research will be a source for studies on organology, Gypsy culture and stamps to be created with semiotic analysis methods in the next period. © 2022, Ataturk Universitesi.
