dc.description.abstractOsmanlı Devleti'nde askeri ve mali alanda mevcut kaynakların tespiti için tahrir defterleri tutulmuştur. XIX. yüzyılda bu tahrirler, yerini nüfus sayımlarına bırakmıştır. Bu anlamda ilk genel nüfus sayımına 1828-29 yıllarında başlanmış, fakat bu sayım Osmanlı-Rus Savaşı nedeniyle tamamlanamamıştır. Bu sayımın ardından 1830-31 yıllarında ülke genelinde yeniden bir nüfus sayımı gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ülke genelinde yapılan bu sayımlar, 1838-1845 yılları arasında yapılmaya devam etmiştir. Bu çalışmada 3802 Numaralı Rodos Nüfus Defteri incelenmiştir. Söz konusu defter, Hicri 1256 (1840-1841) tarihini taşımaktadır. Defter, Müslüman erkeklerin askere alınma işlerini kolaylaştırmak ve askerî yükümlülüklerini tespit edebilmek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Defterde, Müslümanların yaşadığı 41 yerleşim yeri tespit edilmiştir. Defter, adadaki Müslüman erkeklerin yaş özellikleri, askeri yükümlülükleri, meslekleri, göç hareketleri, bazı fiziksel nitelikleri ile doğum ve ölüm kayıtlarını içermektedir. Defterdeki bilgiler değerlendirilirken Başkanlık Osmanlı Arşivi'nde çeşitli fonlardaki konuyla ilgili belgelerden ve defterlerden, seyahatnamelerden, kroniklerden ve tetkik eserlerden yararlanılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn order to determine the available resources in the military and financial fields in the Ottoman Empire, cadastral registers were kept. In the 19th century, these censuses were replaced by censuses. In this sense, the first general population census was started in 1828-29, but this census could not be completed due to the Ottoman-Russian War. After this census, a census was carried out across the country in 1830-31. These censuses throughout the country continued to be made between 1838 and 1845. In this study, Rhodes Population Register No. 3802 was examined. The population book in question bears the date of Hijri 1256 (1840-1841). The population register was prepared in order to facilitate the recruitment of Muslim men and to determine their military obligations. In the population register, 41 settlements inhabited by Muslims were identified. The population register includes the age characteristics, military obligations, occupations, migration movements, some physical characteristics and birth and death records of the Muslim men on the island. While evaluating the information in the population book, documents and books related to the subject in various funds in the Presidency Ottoman Archives, travel books, chronicles and examination studies were used.en_US
