Özet
This study has been prepared in order to eliminate the 5th grade students' misconceptions of the topic of "Light and Sound" in the Science and Technology course by using the Know-Want-Learn strategy accompanied by Problem-Based Learning. Two classes of 5th grade 99 students at Antakya Cemil-Şükrü Çolako?lu Primary School in spring semester at 2005-2006 academic year were chosen in this study. Both pilot and experimental study were carried out with the same students. The experimental study "Light and Sound" was carried out for 5 weeks. A Light and Sound misconceptions test was used in the study. This test was administered as pretest and posttest before and after the treatment. The findings of the study proved that the most of the misconceptions of the experimental group were removed. Therefore, understanding of experimental group students was better than the control group students.
