In this study, based on UPOV criteria, morphological, phenological and pomological properties of 37 apricot cultivars and genotypes were investigated in the experimental field of Malatya Apricot Experimental Institute Directorate during 2014-2015. Molecular characterization was performed using RAPD technique. Field evaluations showed that there is variation between years and results of both years were in agreement regarding apricot cultivars and genotypes. All apricot cultivars and genotypes were flowered in March, the earliest flowering was on "Amasya İzmir" genotypes, the latest one was on "Zard" cultivar. Similarly, "Amasya İzmir" genotype had the earliest harvesting time (17 June) while "Zard" genotype had the latest one (3 July). A total of 29 apricot cultivar and genotypes had the strongest tree growth while 8 cultivars and genotypes had the moderate tree growth. In the present study, 15 RAPD markes were used. of the 104 total bands, 100 were polymorphic. However, this technique was not adequate to discriminate the apricot cultivars and genotypes with respect to their origins. Our preliminary results suggested that "EB", "14", "17", "63K" and "64K" were promising genotypes in terms of fruit weight. However, trials should be repeated over years to confirm these results as well as properties of apricot genotypes.en_US
