Scientific Process Skills in Mathematics: Test Development Study

In this study, it was aimed to develop a scientific process skills test for the reliability and validity ofthe mathematics course in to measure the scientific process skills of middle school students. For this purpose, thetest consisting of 35 multiple choice items was developed using appropriate techniques. The necessary reliabilityand item analyzes of the test, which was applied to a total of 353 students in the 7th and 8th grades of secondaryschool, were performed. The Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was 0.90. In the item analysis of the test, theindices of discrimination and difficulty were examined and it was found that the test was a medium difficulty testwith 0.56 and the discrimination was high. According to these results, it is concluded that the test is a validity andreliability test which can be used to measure the scientific process skills of 7th and 8th grade students.
